What makes My Handyman better than the rest?

 

We start by carefully screening and selecting professional contractors.  We stand by our craftsmanship because our technicians average over 15 years experience in residential and commercial work.  My Handyman conducts thorough background checks including criminal and drug and alcohol checks.

Most importantly anyone you hire to work in your home should have General Liability and Workers Compensation at minimum.  Understand that there is no risk to the person holding themselves out to be a contractor or handyman if they are not insured.  PA law only requires a minimum of $50,000 in General Liability which only protects your property.  Most small contractors and handymen have few assets for you to sue should damage exceed their limits. 

The worst case scenario however is lack of Workers Compensation Insurance.  There is no requirement to have it and since it is very expensive, little reason to carry it.   A worker performing even a low skill job like cleaning a gutter, if he falls and is injured, without his own coverage, you are the employer and are liable to cover his injuries.  Besides paying for medical you are liable for lost earnings as well.  Many of our competitors rely on sub-contractors and so avoid Workers Comp at your risk.
