Mr. Handyman Supports Local Charities during The National Day of Service
The Ronald McDonald House in Richmond was a happy beneficiary this September when locally-owned Mr. Handyman donated the skills of its technicians and staff to observe the National Day of Service.
These efforts coincided with the efforts of many Mr. Handyman offices throughout North America, all answering President Obama’s request to renew America through volunteerism. As the #1 employer of handymen in the world, Mr. Handyman employees donated over 800 hours of labor in September to homeless shelters, hospitals, senior care centers, schools and churches, as well as non-profits and other community service organizations.
The local charity was chosen because of their service to the community. Seriously ill children stay at Ronald McDonald House while receiving medical care in Richmond.
“Donating our services to the Ronald McDonald House was a natural partnership for us,” said Gina Chapman, President of the Mr. Handyman of Richmond. “As a mother of four young children myself, I am always looking for ways to give back to our community, and I think it’s even more significant as part of a national effort to help deserving organizations.”
Work already completed by Mr. Handyman technicians include replacing a porch on a playhouse, repairing a water-damaged wall, hanging pictures and mirrors, moving furniture, sealing holes, replacing a dryer vent, fixing a gate latch, tightening a banister, repairing a basement drain cover and rearranging parking spaces. Even Mr. Handyman’s office staff helped out by reorganizing kitchen cabinets and painting.
Doing something positive to commemorate September 11 also has special meaning for Chapman, a former Wall Street executive, who knew some of those who died in the World Trade Center attacks.
Adding to the Mr. Handyman efforts were Greenwood Financial, Christy Wiltshire of Allstate and Molly Maid who together donated much needed supplies to the Ronald McDonald House including laundry detergent and cleaning supplies.
Since 2001, Mr. Handyman has serviced the Richmond area with highly skilled technicians who are all company employees and have been subjected to background checks. Mr. Handyman is a licensed, bonded and insured Virginia Class A contractor.
