Spring is right around the corner, and there is no better time to get started on your spring cleaning (and organizing) than right now.
Basement organization and closet organization are not all that different. You still need to follow the same steps to declutter your space and get it shipshape.
KEEP. DONATE. TRASH.
Probably the most difficult part of getting any closet organized is sorting through your clothing. We recommend you have three bins and clearly mark them with KEEP, DONATE or TRASH. If you don't have bins, no worries! Just get a pile going for each of the three categories.
You should also set clear rules about what you keep, donate or throw out in the trash. For example, have you worn it in the last year? Does it have sentimental value? Does it still fit? Is it out of style? Setting clear rules will make it easier for you to decide which category your clothes belong.
After removing all the DONATE and TRASH clothes, you're ready to display, store and simplify your clothing, accessories and purses to make you feel your best!
Share a closet?
Use hangers in one color for your items and another color for anyone else. This will cut down on "closet confusion" in case your clothes get mixed up. Next, use tiered hangers for pants. Even though you now have fewer clothes in your closet, you should really make the most of that precious closet real estate.
Purses on Display
Are you a purse lover? Use a handbag organizer to get your purses off the shelf in your closet and on display on the back of the door. Not only does it help you to see your options, but it could prevent you from buying a third or fourth black, leather bag!
Organize and Accessorize
Accessories are the easiest way to add oomph to your outfits. Place belts, scarves and men's ties on this unique IKEA organizer to make your mornings a breeze!
You may want to consider custom shelving to organize your newly decluttered closet. Professionally installed shelving is the best way to keep your clothing, shoes and accessories organized and clean.
