Q: I’m seeing more wood accent walls, is this something a homeowner can do?

A: If you are handy and like to try things, you can likely manage this yourself. I’ve seen walls with wood flooring, and reclaimed wood from old barns and pallets. Wood plank flooring will be uniform in width and strips will fit together tongue in groove. This is likely the easiest application, and you only need to make right angle cuts at the end of a row.

Reclaimed wood products will be more like assembling a puzzle, but this can add a lot of character if done well. Simply take your time and walk away when you get tired or frustrated.

You are putting up hundreds of pounds of wood on the wall. Be sure your nails are into studs – Not Just Drywall. I do not recommend any self-stick adhesive product for this application.
