Mr. Handyman Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Is my home/business in your territory?
A: We do work in many of the areas around Princeton, NJ and Newtown, PA. In New Jersey these areas are primarily in Mercer County and include Belle Mead, East Windsor, Ewing, Hamilton, Hamilton Square, Hightstown, Hopewell Borough, Hopewell Township, Lambertville, Lawrenceville, Mercerville, Pennington, Plainsboro, Princeton, Princeton Junction, Robbinsville, Rocky Hill, Skillman, Titusville, West Trenton and West Windsor. In Pennsylvania our areas are primarily in Lower Bucks County and include Buckingham, Churchville, Fairless Hills, Feasterville Trevose, Furlong, Holland, Langhorne, Lower Makefield, Morrisville, New Hope, Newtown, Richboro, Southampton, Upper Makefield, Washington Crossing, and Yardley.
We can go to some other nearby areas so if you are not sure whether we can work in your area please call our office to ask.
Q: What kinds of jobs do you do?
A: We do a really wide range of work! Jobs include drywall repair, small painting jobs, carpentry, wood rot repair, railings, stair repair, deck repair, tiling, grouting, caulking, power washing, cabinets, faucets, toilets, TV mounting, smart lock installation, smart thermostat installation, and more. We get very creative requests – if the job is within our technicians’ abilities we will discuss the job. If we feel that we are not the best company for you we will tell you.
Q: Do you do commercial work?
A: We do! We have done lots of commercial projects along the Route 1 corridor in West Windsor and Lawrence, as well as in Quakerbridge Mall, Carnegie Center, Newtown, Langhorne, Morrisville – really throughout our territories. We do a wide range of work including but not limited to mounting TVs, hanging whiteboards or glass whiteboards, painting, drywall, tile repair, and drop ceiling repair.
Q: I have a small project. Is it too small for you?
A: No. We have a one hour minimum. We can do multiple tasks in that hour. So for example if you need caulking done and that will take 30 minutes we can do other tasks to fill out the hour. A small job is a great way to meet our technician and learn their capabilities. If you are considering doing a bigger project in the future discuss it with him when he is done and he can take some pictures or notes.
Q: Are you locally owned?
A: Yes! The owners live here and love the area. All of our employees are local.
Q: Where are you located?
A: Our office is in Pennington, NJ. That is a good location for us because it is midway between two of the areas where we do most of our work, Princeton and Newtown. It is also along 295 (where we now spend lots of money in tolls thanks to the toll on the Scudder Falls Bridge). It is not a retail store so if you plan to visit call before and we’ll try to make sure we have snacks.
Q: Why is your tech carrying an iPad? Will he be checking Twitter when he’s supposed to be working?
A: The iPad is an important tool for us. Our technicians use it to see the details of your job, including pictures, so they can be prepared. They use it to dispatch to your job and map to your house. They take pictures and make notes that the office can see immediately and that are on your account for future visits. They invoice through it. They use it to estimate future work. They check for the availability of materials at the big hardware stores. The iPads are locked down so they can only be used for appropriate work purposes.
