What are the best tips for Spring cleaning?

Mr. Handyman of Wheaton-Hinsdale offers spring cleaning tips for your home

Before the weather gets too nice to spend the days indoors, use this time to get some deep cleaning done around your house.

Late winter/early spring is a great time to do some truly deep cleaning, where you allocate more time and attention to the things you don’t tackle on a daily or weekly basis.

Even if you have a cleaning service come a couple times a month to clean bathrooms, vacuum, and tidy up, there’s still more that can be done.

Start by eliminating dust wherever you can. Not only will your home look better, you may find yourself sneezing less and breathing more easily. Clean the tops of ceiling fan blades and door casings, and along baseboards and window sills. Dust on top of and behind television sets. Wipe down the top of your refrigerator and above kitchen cabinets if they don’t extend to the ceiling.

Over time, build-up can collect on kitchen cabinets, especially if the range’s exhaust hood isn’t used to keep grease from settling during cooking. Use a special “cabinet cream” to clean off dirt and grime, and to moisturize your wood cabinetry.
