Rating: 5 out of 5 stars

A bit expensive. $175 per hour. A bit much to install a new mailbox with all parts included in 1 hour. Project cost more than the actual mailbox.. Great otherwise! I would Not hire for my ongoing major project with these prices. But if you don't mine being overcharged, have at it.

This is the second time we have used Mr. Handyman for various projects after our recent move into our new home. Dameon was our Handyman and he was able to work with us and the few curve balls we sent his way as the projects evolved. Great timely service at a fair price.

Frequently Asked Questions About Deck Repair

Mr. Handyman has been helping homeowners and businesses repair, maintain, and enhance their spaces for over 25 years! We are the one-stop solution for everything on your to-do list. This includes answering your questions about home repairs, maintenance, and improvements. Here are answers to some of your most frequently asked questions about deck repair and deck installation.

  • Several factors influence the cost of deck repair, including deck size, materials, and the extent of the damage. Minor repairs like replacing a few boards or securing railings are generally less complex than structural restoration. Costs are usually higher when the framing, joists, or support posts are affected. Water exposure, rot, or shifting footings often lead to more extensive deck repair or partial replacement. Recurring board damage or loose railings can point to a larger problem within the deck. Moisture in the framing often causes these issues to return. Repeating surface level deck repair may cost more than addressing the structural source. An on-site evaluation helps determine the real cost of deck repair. Your local team in Anderson can examine the deck, review repair or replacement options, and outline the work required.

  • Homeowners insurance may cover deck repair, but the determining factor is usually what caused the damage. Insurance policies typically apply to sudden events rather than routine maintenance. Most policies cover sudden damage from events such as storms, fallen trees, fire, vandalism, or vehicle impact. Because decks are often categorized as part of the home’s structure or an attached feature, insurance may help cover repair or replacement costs after the deductible. However, issues caused by aging materials or lack of maintenance are generally excluded. Rotting boards, loose railings, worn fasteners, or long-term moisture damage are typically considered maintenance responsibilities. If you’re unsure whether deck repair may be covered, a written inspection can help when discussing the situation with your insurance provider. Notes about damaged boards, loose railings, or affected framing can clarify the condition of the structure and help determine whether deck repair or deck replacement may be needed.

  • Replacing one damaged board may appear simple. Many deck repair projects involve more than surface materials. Framing, ledger boards, and support posts carry significant weight and must be attached correctly to perform as intended. Improper fastening or misaligned supports can lead to long term structural issues. Decks connect directly to the home structure. Incorrect repairs near ledger boards or flashing can allow water intrusion and lead to rot behind siding. Visible deck damage does not always show the full condition of the structure. Soft boards may indicate moisture in the joists underneath. Board replacement without reviewing the framing can leave deeper issues in place. Many deck repair projects require structural review, proper hardware installation, and attention to code requirements. A qualified deck repair handyman can help correct structural concerns and support the long term condition of the deck.

  • Deck contractors may organize their work differently depending on the company. Some work independently while others use rotating crews or focus on building new decks. The experience for homeowners can vary based on how projects are scheduled and completed. Mr. Handyman completes deck repair, deck refinishing, deck installation, and deck replacement through a locally owned and operated business that is licensed and insured. Service professionals handle many types of home improvement work, not just a single project. Coordinated scheduling and communication support the service experience. Mr. Handyman provides deck repair services in Anderson through a local team of service professionals. Uniformed professionals arrive in branded vehicles and follow an established service structure. Projects move through an organized scheduling process. Defined procedures guide how deck repair services are inspected and completed. Service completed under the Done Right Promise® follows established service standards across the Neighborly network. Professional processes and responsive customer support contribute to a dependable experience. Homeowners receive local service with national brand support.

  • Protective coatings on wood decks gradually wear down from sunlight and moisture. Many decks require refinishing about every two to three years to maintain protection. Once sealant fades, boards absorb moisture more easily and begin to deteriorate. Inspecting a deck each year helps identify early deterioration. Minor board damage and loose hardware can often be repaired before deeper structural issues appear. Climate conditions affect timing. Extreme weather accelerates wear. Homes exposed to harsh weather often require more frequent deck restoration to maintain stability. Working with a local deck builder in Anderson helps homeowners plan regular inspections, refinishing, and repairs that extend the life of the deck.
