Every stucco repair starts with a diagnosis, not a patch kit. Color matching is where many DIY attempts fall apart. Stucco pigment weathers over years of sun and rain, so a can of fresh finish coat rarely matches a fifteen-year-old wall straight out of the bucket. We blend pigment on site and test it against the existing surface before applying the final coat. Ohio's building code requires exterior wall coverings to shed water away from the sheathing, and a mismatched or poorly sealed patch can undercut that even when the color looks fine at a glance.

Timing matters too. Stucco patch compound needs sustained temperatures above 40 degrees to cure properly, which narrows the real repair window in Delaware to roughly April through October. Homeowners who spot a crack in December are usually better off sealing it temporarily and scheduling the full repair once the freeze-thaw cycle breaks for spring.
