First of all, the Technician arrived as scheduled, which is something that is very rare with contractors, today. He was courteous and professional, covering his shoes, prior to entering my home. He worked very independently and cause minimal disturbance to my daily routine. The painting and staining jobs were done meticulously. My house looked 10 years newer, after he power washed it, and all of the repair jobs were done with no "glitches". I was amazed at the diversity of the Technician's knowledge regarding home maintenance and repair. When all work was completed, he cleaned up to the extent that you would not know anyone had been there. This is definitely a case of, "you get what you pay for". My experience with Mr. Handyman was very good. David, the sales representative who schedules the service, is honest and truthful — for e.g. David recommended that I buy the paint for the apt due to the fact that there will be a 20% surcharge on materials that Mr. Handyman has to purchase for each specific job. Since I was not able to take off from work, I couldn't monitor the progress of work each day. That said on certain days, the painters only worked 5 hrs or 6.5 hrs and this was specifically highlighted on the final bill and I was only charged for hrs worked and not an entire day. I really appreciated this sort of honesty. What I also liked is that each morning, the technicians or painters gave me a summary of what they plan to accomplish and without fail they accomplished their tasks. Something else to also mention is the technicians and painters are punctual and responsive. Anne, one of the experienced and talented painters, painted my whole apt. She did an exceptional job and I would unequivocally recommend her to anyone. Lastly, Mr. Handyman service is expensive as they charge by the hour. Given that their work is quite good, I definitely plan on using them again for other jobs.

The job went excellently. Scheduling was easily done by phone; had to wait about 1.5 weeks to find an open appointment slot, but the handyman (John) arrived precisely on time at the beginning of the estimated time range. John was professional and friendly throughout his time in my home, discussed all of the work upfront, including which jobs he believed were worth hiring a handyman to fix and which would be sufficiently time-consuming that it would probably be more cost-effective to just replace what was broken (blinds). He quickly and successfully fixed most of the issues we agreed for him to work on (drywall repair, weeds under closed deck, unsticking a window), then continued trying to fix a broken window lock for which I did not have a replacement on hand even after it was evident it was not fixable without a new lock. Mr. Handyman charges a flat rate for the first hour, then charges partial hours at a lower rate every 15 minutes; since I'd be charged the full one hour regardless of how much time it took, John continued seeing what could be done until the hour was up even though it seemed unlikely to get results, but since it was worth trying anyway since I was already paying for the time. Overall, I was extremely pleased with John's work, professionalism, and honesty, and Mr. Handyman of S. Orange, Westfield, and Scotch Plains will be at the top of my list for any future handyman services I may need.
