Update- Called Handyman and inquired about the Pella lock replacement part that was ordered. Told it finally became available and that the technician Jimmy B, would be available Wednesday between 2-3 pm which was fine. Got a call from Jimmy Wednesday morning asking if he could come over earlier. No problem! Come on over! Jimmy arrives at 12:20, and removes the temporary lock, and after some adjustment procedure on the new lock, it was installed. Door now locks perfectly, and is back in the original looking condition. The original estimated labor charge was now paid. The process of fixing the Pella French door took longer than expected, only because of getting the needed replacement parts. I don't hold that against Handyman as it was beyond their control. The work done by Jimmy B was first class and yes I would recommend Handyman to those who require that type of service.

Called Handyman sometime in late February about fixing a locked French door. A few days later The Operations/Manger came out to look at the door and was told me it could be repaired and he made several phone calls to various places about getting the necessary parts. Unfortunately the only place to get a new locking mechanism was from the original manufacturer, Pella Corporation. I contacted Pella, and one of there associates was able to determine the mechanism needed even for a 30 year old door. Ordered the new mechanism, but was told it would take until 20 March until ot would arrive. Upon arrival of the new mechanism, I contacted Handyman again to set up a repair date. The following week, a Thursday, was scheduled- day before scheduled service it was cancelled by Handyman- a new date was scheduled-the coming Monday- that got cancelled- a third appointment was made for Thursday April 2nd. That got cancelld five minutes before the scheduled time of arrival! However, a new appointment was made for that day, Thursday, at a later time in the morning where a Technician, Jimmy B. finally did arrive. The technician was given a overall briefing on what the issue was and what needs to be resolved. The Patio French Door lock failed in the lock position and the door hinges were of a security type. Jimmy was able to get the hinge pins out and after much pulling and pushing was able to remove the door from it’s lock position and therefore able to remove the Pella Three Point locking mechanism. The new mechanism was installed. Unfortunately, Jimmy had, not intentionally, stepped on a critical part of the existing mechanism and broke it. He went to the local Home Depot and was able to get a working replacement but not exactly as the Pella part was. Door now opens and locks. But Jimmy said he would order the proper replacement device to complete the repair work on the door. He refused payment until the new part comes in and installed. So yes a five star for technician Jimmy B! Would I recommend Handyman? Good service but lousy keeping scheduled visits. Now I understand situations where a company needs to reschedule. But three times?

Jimmy was our technician. We got a text he ws on his way and he arrived on time. We had several things we requested he fix and he completed them all the same day, within 2 hours, since he had to get parts. I'm definitely adding them to my list for future projects. Thank you Jimmy!

Frequently Asked Questions About Drywall Repair & Drywall Installation in North Augusta, SC

Mr. Handyman has been helping homeowners and businesses repair, maintain, and enhance their spaces for 30 years! We are the one-stop solution for everything on your to-do list. This includes answering your questions about home and business repairs, maintenance, and improvements. Here are answers to some of your most frequently asked questions about drywall repair and drywall installation.

  • You may need drywall repair or drywall patching if you notice visible cracks, holes, dents, or nail pops in your walls or ceilings. Hairline cracks can be normal due to settling, but widening cracks, spreading damage, or repeated cracking in the same area often signal a deeper issue. Small punctures from doorknobs or furniture typically require drywall hole repair, while larger impact damage may need more extensive drywall repair to restore the surface properly. Visible water stains, sagging ceilings, or soft, deteriorating drywall are major signs you need immediate drywall repair. Once the moisture source is addressed, affected sections often need to be cut out and replaced rather than simply patched. Ignoring water-damaged drywall can lead to mold growth, compromised framing, and costly repairs down the line. Raised seams and peeling tape may indicate that your drywall installation wasn’t properly secured. Humidity fluctuations can worsen these flaws over time. Quality drywall patching and careful refinishing help ensure a durable, smooth appearance. If the damage is larger than a few inches, affects multiple areas, involves ceilings, or follows plumbing or roof leaks, it’s best to contact experienced drywall contractors or a qualified handyman for drywall. Proper drywall repair ensures the surface is structurally sound, blends with surrounding texture, and prevents recurring problems.

  • If drywall cracks and holes keep reappearing, the initial drywall repair likely didn’t address the underlying cause. Cosmetic drywall patching alone rarely solves structural or environmental issues. Home settling and structural shifts frequently stress drywall joints. When framing moves, seams and fasteners loosen, leading to repeat cracking. Improper drywall installation or weak drywall finishing methods can also contribute. Moisture is another leading contributor. Leaks and humidity changes weaken drywall and compromise joint stability. Proper drywall repair includes eliminating moisture before refinishing the surface. In high-traffic zones, repeated impact may reopen previously repaired areas. Proper reinforcement by experienced drywall contractors helps prevent future failure.

  • Small dents or punctures are commonly addressed with drywall patching. The repair is stabilized and refinished so it blends consistently with nearby drywall finishing. During remodels or significant structural repairs, drywall installation ensures the wall surface is uniform, secure, and properly finished. When fasteners no longer hold securely, partial drywall installation reinforces the wall and improves long term durability. Consulting a handyman for drywall clarifies whether targeted drywall repair or replacing a larger section is the better long term solution.

  • Clearing the wall and surrounding area in advance allows service professionals to complete drywall repair or drywall installation more efficiently. Planning for dust control before drywall service ensures surrounding furniture and flooring remain protected during drywall finishing and repair. When scheduling drywall repair after water exposure, ensure the leak or moisture issue has been corrected before drywall installation starts. Installing new panels over an active problem can result in additional drywall repair later. Scheduling an estimate provides clarity on whether drywall repair, drywall installation, or drywall patching is the appropriate solution. It also gives you an opportunity to discuss timing, preparation steps, and expectations for drywall finishing.

  • While small cosmetic flaws may seem manageable, improper drywall repair or drywall patching can lead to visible seams, uneven surfaces, and repairs that fail over time. Experienced service professionals use the correct tools and techniques to secure panels, reinforce seams, and complete drywall finishing so the surface blends smoothly. When drywall installation is required, panels must be properly aligned, secured to framing, and finished carefully to avoid long term performance issues. Recurring drywall damage can indicate deeper issues. A qualified handyman for drywall can identify contributing factors before completing repairs. A detailed estimate for drywall service helps clarify expectations, project duration, and the level of repair required.

  • Choosing between drywall contractors in North Augusta starts with confirming expertise in drywall repair, drywall installation, drywall finishing, and drywall hole repair. Clear explanations of scope and method signal professional drywall service. Transparent drywall service planning includes confirmed pricing, projected timelines, and defined expectations for drywall finishing. Reliable drywall contractors prioritize team consistency to deliver uniform drywall finishing quality. When you request a drywall service estimate from Mr. Handyman in North Augusta, South Carolina, you meet with service professionals who manage your drywall repair and drywall finishing from start to finish.
