Cleaned our outdoor dryer and bathroom vents and placed bird cages over all four. Birds had been nesting in the vents.

I had a unique request. I was purchasing a HUD foreclosure on a 203k(?) fix up loan. The bank had requirements to be met, HUD had requirements to be met. I needed quite a few random jobs done. From plumbing to deck work to replacing electrical to septic, etc. I was required to get three different estimates to appease the bank gods & Mr. Handyman is one of the businesses I called. I was very impressed with the promptness of their response & the professional decorum expressed by them. The jobs I had would rake in $16,000 for labor, materials, etc… Mr Handyman TURNED ME DOWN!! but they explained why. They work differently than other places & bill differently. Their business style didn't really fit in with my timeline for getting things done & also the HUD loan process was crazy & not to their billing style. (I'm paraphrasing here, it was after all a year ago & change that we talked.) AGAIN ~ I was impressed with their honesty!! They gained my respect! When I do end up needing some house work done that I can't handle on my own, Mr Handyman will get my first call !!

Called in the morning and spoke to the owner Al who answered the phone. I explained what I needed and at first he thought I may need two guys and a 40' ladder as the portion of siding that came loose is on the second level by the attic vent. He asked I send him photos via text which I did and he checked with one of his guys and I ended up only needing a 21' ladder and one guy so less cost out of my pocket! Al said it would probably be in the afternoon and he would call when they were on their way and I told him that was fine as I would be home all day doing yard work. Well I missed his call as I was outside and didn't hear the phone but his guy Mike L showed up anyways which was also great for me! I heard him at the front and he got right to work. Very personable and friendly. I asked him if he'd mind cleaning out the gutters since he was up there and the siding was only a 5 min job so may as well utilize my hour of pay and they didn't mind at all. Al also came by to check on his guy and was very friendly as well just as he as on the phone. Very happy to have found a handyman company who I feel comfortable with and that would do a good job. Thanks to Al and Mike L it can now rain and I wont worry about my siding just flopping around. I will definitely use you all in future for any other needs.

Overall; excellent. Final results and professionalism of workers weighs more heavily with me. The issues/concerns: 1. Work was initially scheduled for 5 June. The company had concerns about the weather due to the forecast. However, I didn't find this out until I called them when they didn't show up at the estimated time. We discussed the fact that they were watching the weather and would make a decision. This I understand. However, I was not notified about the delay nor the final decision to not show up. I didn't give a bad grade on punctuality as it was a responsiveness (communication) failure, to me, and less a punctuality factor. When the gentleman, I cannot remember his name, hereafter referred to as "the guy" or "he," showed up the following day, again not communicated to me that he would, it was early enough to get the job done in the same day. 2. When the work was completed, the guy left. He left the few items that were in the shed out. Left the shed open. Left the bagged debris and scrap wood in the yard, but stacked on the edge of the yard. Left a power cord. He didn't say anything before leaving. I put the items back in the shed, closed the door, wound up the cord (need to get this back to them) and got the bagged debris and scrap wood on to the driveway and out of the yard. I was planning to haul it up to the road on Wednesday afternoon; trash day. When I returned home on Wednesday, all the trash and scrap wood is gone. I can only assume that he came back and picked it all up. No one in my family did anything with it. 3. I was concerned about the hourly labor rate. Obviously not enough to not hire the company, but it seemed steep Bottom line though, it was much cheaper than getting a new shed. The good: 1. The work quality was great. All that I wanted done was completed. Most important factor. 2. The guy doing the work was very polite and friendly. These two factors alone determine whether or not I will work with a company again. The other stuff, although they were written with more detail, can be cleared up in any future efforts.
