This company works extremely hard to personally guarantee satisfaction with every project. Had a project that I had some issues with and the Owner Personally scheduled and assisted One of his contractors to help rectify the situation and leave me with a better outcome than I had even intended for the initial project. Highly recommend that anybody in the area!

We recently used Mr. Handyman for drywall repair. I’ll admit our initial experience with the first technician (although a very nice guy) was not the best and the work left us frustrated. However, the company really turned things around by sending out another technician, Mark. Mark was honest, hardworking, and very easy to talk with throughout the correction process. He took the time to explain things clearly, worked efficiently, and genuinely cared about doing the job right. His professionalism and attitude made all the difference, and by the end we felt very positive about the experience overall. Thank you, Mark, for restoring our confidence and doing such great work!

Dan was professional, helpful, cleaned up after each job, and stands behind what he does. Cindy- who owns this franchise came out to take a look at the projects at the end of the day as well. Very pleased with service overall! Will use them for other projects. It was nice to have someone dependable to address the jobs other contractors tend to blow off. But now I will use Handyman for bigger jobs as needed also.

I had damage to my house caused by a woodpecker that needed repaired. This was my first time calling Mr. Handyman. The gal doing the scheduling provided great customer service. She scheduled my appointment within a few business days. Doug was on time and was quickly able to evaluate the damage and determine the best fix then he went to work and finished quickly. I'm very happy with the service I received.

Clay was absolutely 150% on the job. I cannot emphasize enough how much I appreciated his professionalism, his hustling, and his desire to do a perfect job. I was impressed. The price was pretty steep, but I don't have anything to compare it with, so who knows how much the others would have charged. Also, he said that the copper pipes that he used to replace the old ones cost $200. We had a leak in the water heater pipes that caused moisture ants to find a home in our crawl space. I phoned around to find a handyman service and everybody was booked out. Mr Handyman did not get the best ratings on Angie's List and wasn't my first choice, but they were the ones who responded quickly, sent someone to assess the problem. He estimated that the repair would be between $400 and $850, told me how the problem would be fixed and I decided to hire them. They scheduled me for an appointment one and a half weeks into the future. But the leak had been there for a while and I did not need a super-quick response, so that worked for me. On the day of the service, Clay was there almost half hour before the scheduled time and didn't stop working until he left almost 8 hours later. He had to drain the water heater and cut the drywall. According to him, the pipes that went from the water heater into the wall and from there into the crawl space had been sagging and ended up sitting on concrete, which caused a leak over time. He cut the pipes on the side of the garage (where the water heater is) and in the crawl space. Then he installed new pipes between the wall and the water heater. He took out all the dry rot and put a piece of wood in for the pipes to go through (so they wouldn't sit on concrete). Then he resoldered the pipes together. Everything seemed to go well until he turned the water back on, which showed a leak. He was hustling to get the leak fixed and seemed to get it all to where it was dry. However, the next day I went into the crawl space and discovered a pretty steady leak. I called them again and they quickly sent Clay to take care of it immediately. He came within 30 minutes and went right to work. After checking a number of things and resoldering the pipes, he found that part of the pipe was defective. So he cut that out. But this didn't completely solve the problem. It took Clay almost 4 hours to make sure everything was fixed. The whole time, he was very gracious and professional. While fixing the problem, he saw that the main water line was sagging and he installed copper hooks to hook it back up. He also sprayed lots of wood preservative to help the moisture in the wood (from the new leak) dry out. He told me that the Mr. Handyman service guaranteed their work for 1 year and not to hesitate to call again if there was a problem. Later that day I realized that the water pressure in the kitchen seemed low. I checked the water shutoff and the faucet over the water heater, then discovered a leak at the water heater faucet. I called him and he came within about 30 minutes. He told me that that faucet must have come loose with all the work on the water heater and that he had not touched it that day. But he quickly fixed it and again was very gracious. Clay is a hard worker and very professional. I would hire him again.

Frequently Asked Questions About Deck Repair

Mr. Handyman has been helping homeowners and businesses repair, maintain, and enhance their spaces for over 25 years! We are the one-stop solution for everything on your to-do list. This includes answering your questions about home repairs, maintenance, and improvements. Here are answers to some of your most frequently asked questions about deck repair and deck installation.

  • Deck repair pricing varies based on the size of the deck, the materials used, and the amount of damage. Smaller repairs such as replacing boards or stabilizing railings usually require less time than larger restoration work. When damage extends to framing, joists, or support posts, deck repair typically requires more work. Water damage, rot, or shifting footings may require structural repairs or partial deck replacement. Repeated deck repairs sometimes indicate moisture affecting the framing. Soft spots that come back or railings that loosen again often signal a deeper problem. Continuing surface level deck repair can increase long term repair costs. Accurate deck repair pricing usually begins with an on-site evaluation. A service professional in Mountlake Terrace will inspect the deck, review repair or replacement options, and explain what the project may involve.

  • Homeowners insurance may cover deck repair, but coverage usually depends on what caused the damage rather than the need for repairs alone. Damage from storms, fallen trees, fire, vandalism, or vehicle impact is commonly covered. Since decks are often considered part of the home’s structure or an attached feature, insurance may assist with repair or replacement costs after the deductible. However, homeowners insurance typically does not cover damage caused by normal wear and tear or lack of maintenance. Issues such as rotting boards, loose railings, aging fasteners, or long-term moisture damage are generally considered maintenance responsibilities. If you’re unsure whether the damage qualifies for coverage, a written inspection can be helpful when discussing the situation with your insurance provider. Notes about damaged boards, loose railings, or affected framing can help clarify whether deck repair or deck replacement may be required.

  • A single board replacement can seem like an easy project. Deck repair often involves more than the visible boards. Framing, ledger boards, and support posts carry substantial weight and require proper attachment. Loose fasteners or poorly aligned supports can cause structural problems over time. Decks attach directly to the home structure. Repairs near ledger boards or flashing must be handled carefully to prevent water intrusion and rot behind siding. Deck boards sometimes show damage before the structure below is inspected. Soft spots may signal moisture affecting the joists. Replacing boards without checking the framing may leave structural concerns unaddressed. A professional deck repair service includes checking the structure, installing hardware correctly, and following code requirements. Hiring an experienced deck repair handyman helps address structural concerns and extend the life of the deck.

  • Not all deck contractors operate the same way. Some work on their own, some rely on rotating crews, and others concentrate on new deck construction. The service experience often depends on who performs the work and how projects are organized. Deck repair, deck refinishing, deck installation, and deck replacement are provided by Mr. Handyman through a locally owned and operated business that is licensed and insured. Homeowners work with service professionals who assist with a variety of home improvement projects. Project scheduling and communication are organized through a structured process. Homeowners throughout Mountlake Terrace connect with a local Mr. Handyman service team. Service professionals arrive in uniform and branded vehicles and follow a structured service process. Projects are coordinated through an organized scheduling system. Clear procedures guide how deck repair services are reviewed and completed. The Done Right Promise® reflects the commitment shared across Neighborly home service brands. Service standards, professional accountability, and responsive support help maintain consistent results. Homeowners receive service from local service professionals backed by a recognized national brand.

  • Deck boards are exposed to constant sun and moisture. Protective sealants gradually weaken over time. Refinishing every two to three years helps restore that protective layer and slows water absorption and wood deterioration. Annual inspections help catch small problems early. Loose fasteners, minor cracks, and early soft spots can be addressed with targeted deck repair services before structural damage develops. Local climate conditions influence how often deck maintenance is needed. Extreme weather can accelerate wear on exposed decking materials. A local deck builder in Mountlake Terrace can help create a maintenance schedule that supports consistent upkeep and long term deck stability.
