Rating: 5 out of 5 stars

He was excellent and was real creative in what, he did. He didn’t replace the window; he made it stop leaking and fixed the woodwork. There were two guys; but, the first guy was really good at what he did. He was effective and cleaned up after himself. He didn’t have to replace the entire window frame which would have been more time consuming and expensive; he patched it and, it looks perfect. The first guy was great but the second guy didn’t do such a good job.

I've had Mr. Handyman of Everett out to my house a number of times since 2014 for smaller projects. This included identifying and repairing a leak in the roof, fence repair, and installing new bathroom sinks. The work has generally been quite good. Each project was done by a different technician. I would rate one of the technicians as 4 out of 5. The rest 5 out of 5. Late last year I had an independent maintenance technician attempt to install two bathroom sinks. This person ended up leaving my house with two leaking sinks, unattached lift rods, incorrectly seated stoppers, and grooves stripped off one of the drain pipes. So I called called Mr. Handyman of Everett to fix this problem. Mick did a professional job. Each sink was correctly installed and properly tested. It was nice to see quality work.

Even an odd request (older houses are fun) was done efficiently.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars

Original job looked nice but after a couple of years the poor workmanship and non-watertight construction techniques used came to light after slow but steady leaking soaked into the sheet rock wallboard, through the wall into the adjacent rooms where it soaked into the carpeting and wooden bases of bookcases and furniture located on the opposite sides of the shower stall walls. Original contractor who gave me the estimate and told me how he would do the job but farmed it out to a sub-contractor who did such a poor job it had to be torn out and done again. The Handyman of Snohomish sent out an individual who gave me an estimate, told me step-by-step what would be and needed to be done and did all the work himself. He showed me all the poor corner-cutting steps the previous contractor took as he tore it apart. During his rebuild he showed me each step he took as he reconstructed it with great skill and craftsmanship.

Frequently Asked Questions About Deck Repair

Mr. Handyman has been helping homeowners and businesses repair, maintain, and enhance their spaces for over 25 years! We are the one-stop solution for everything on your to-do list. This includes answering your questions about home repairs, maintenance, and improvements. Here are answers to some of your most frequently asked questions about deck repair and deck installation.

  • The cost of deck repair depends on the size of your deck, the materials used, and how extensive the damage is. Small deck repair services, such as replacing a few boards or securing loose railings, are typically less involved than structural deck restoration. Deck repair becomes more involved when framing, joists, or support posts are damaged. Rot, water exposure, or shifting footings may require broader repairs or partial deck replacement. Ongoing minor repairs can be a sign of deeper deck damage. Soft boards that return or railings that loosen again often point to moisture within the structure. Addressing the underlying framing can prevent repeated deck repair. The most accurate way to determine pricing is through an on-site evaluation. Your local deck builder in Perrinville will assess the condition of your deck, explain your deck repair or deck replacement options, and outline the scope before work begins.

  • Homeowners insurance sometimes covers deck repair, but eligibility usually depends on what caused the damage. Coverage generally applies to unexpected events rather than routine repairs. Many policies cover deck damage caused by sudden events such as storms, fallen trees, fire, vandalism, or vehicle impact. Since decks are often classified as part of the home’s structure or an attached feature, insurance may assist with repair or replacement costs after the deductible. However, damage related to normal wear, aging materials, or lack of maintenance is typically excluded from coverage. Problems like rotting boards, loose railings, worn fasteners, or moisture-related deterioration are generally considered maintenance issues. If you’re unsure whether the damage qualifies for coverage, a written inspection can help when discussing the issue with your insurance provider. Notes about damaged boards, loose railings, or affected framing can help determine whether deck repair or deck replacement may be needed.

  • Replacing one board may look straightforward. Most deck repair projects involve structural parts beneath the surface. Framing, ledger boards, and support posts hold the deck in place and require proper attachment. Misaligned supports or improper fasteners can create structural issues over time. Decks attach directly to the home structure. Repairs near ledger boards or flashing can allow water to enter and cause rot behind siding. Surface boards often show wear before the framing is evaluated. Soft areas in the decking can point to moisture in the joists below. Board replacement without checking the structure may leave underlying problems unresolved. Professional deck repair often includes evaluating the structure, securing hardware, and following code requirements. A qualified deck repair handyman can address structural issues and help extend the life of the deck.

  • Many deck contractors structure their services around different types of projects. Some focus on new deck construction while others take on smaller repairs using rotating crews. The overall experience often depends on how projects are assigned and managed. Through Mr. Handyman, deck repair, deck refinishing, deck installation, and deck replacement are handled by a locally owned, licensed and insured business. Service professionals assist with a range of home improvement needs while scheduling and communication are managed through an organized system. Your local Mr. Handyman serves homeowners throughout Perrinville. Our service professionals arrive in uniform and branded vehicles and follow an established service process. Our years of experience and proven techniques guide how deck repair services are scheduled, performed, and completed to provide customers with an exceptional experience from the first visit through project completion. Every project is supported by the Done Right Promise®. Clear service standards, professional accountability, and responsive customer support help create a dependable service experience. Homeowners benefit from the resources of a national brand while working with a local team focused on quality deck repair results.

  • Most wood decks benefit from deck refinishing every two to three years. Sun exposure and moisture gradually break down protective sealants. Once sealant fails, wood absorbs water more easily and becomes vulnerable to rot. A yearly deck inspection helps catch early signs of wear. Loose fasteners, surface cracks, or small soft areas can be repaired before they develop into structural damage. Decks exposed to harsh weather may require refinishing more often. Extreme conditions can speed up deterioration. A maintenance schedule created with a local deck builder in Perrinville can help keep deck repairs predictable and manageable.
