Mr. Handyman Gives Thanks This Christmas Season!!

Having a service provider into your home is a personal experience.  Your home is your sanctuary.  This is your escape at the end of a stressful day.  This is where your family and personal belongings reside, so most of us don’t invite just anyone into our home.

I believe that this is one of the great challenges of the home services industry, the differing perspectives of the client, to whom this is home, and that of the service provider, to whom this is a jobsite.

At Mr. Handyman this is certainly a challenge that we strive to overcome.  It’s the same physical space, but there are legitimate emotional factors for the homeowner.  When you invite someone into your sanctuary, you have expectations.  You expect that they’ll arrive on time, or call ahead if running late, and treat both you and the home with respect.  Then you expect that they’ll protect floors, and drape walls and furniture as needed based on the work to be done.  Last, you expect that they’ll explain what they are doing, and that they’ll do what they explained.

Bottom line, you expect the service provider to earn your trust.

When we formed this company almost 9 years ago, we decided to hire staff, not retain sub-contractors, to complete the work that clients requested.  Earning your trust was our top priority.  Hiring our staff gives us control of who we send into homes, vs. trusting a sub-contractor to send a good guy.  Our staff average 20+ years of experience in the home improvement industry prior to joining us, they are seasoned professionals, but we then train and coach them on the Mr. Handyman way.  This includes the fact that they are entering your sanctuary, and that this is not just a jobsite.

While we’re never satisfied that we’ve got it all figured out we have received a lot of great customer reviews in 2016, won the Bold City Best award, have seen strong growth, and we’re generally pleased with the year’s results.  Thank you for the trust that is implicit in allowing us into your home and sanctuary, and thank you for the opportunity to serve you needs.

As we gather with friends, family and loved ones of all ages over the holidays we all have things to give thanks for.  The instability in many parts of the world remind us how lucky we are to live in the home of the brave and the land of the free.  We’re not perfect, by any measure, but we’re doing it better than most.

Personally I am thankful for my family, our health and my friends. I am also thankful for the opportunities that have been put before me personally and professionally.  This business, Mr. Handyman, is providing for our family and for the families of our staff, and for that I thank those of you that allow us into your home each year.  Have a blessed and very merry Christmas.
