The service was great. The handyman who came to do the work explained everything he would do and came up with a nifty solution for the electrical wires to expedite the work. The pane replacement was of excellent quality. I would hire this company again, but would see if I could buy the supplies myself, as there is a charge for the time spent to get the supplies, as well as a markup on supplies.

I can't believe I'm spending part of my Saturday writing about a Handyman service on Yelp, but I just came across some ridiculous reviews for one of my favorite L.A. businesses. First, quick background: I was a homeowner in Valley Village for 7 years and used these guys 5 times. Did I call them every day for the tiniest thing that needed fixing? No. Like one poster said, they're about $100 an hour (not 140 or 160) with a two hour minimum. If a bathroom faucet had a tiny drip, I'd take my ass down to Lowes and give the 5 minute fix it a whirl myself first. Then, after I screwed things up, I might call them, but you gotta give it the old college try. So why call them? These guys are PROS. They are not your $65 an hour unlicensed, uninsured, self proclaimed expert with no background check or quality guarantee that you find — and I've done it myself — on Craig's List. They cost more for the same reason it costs more to take your car to the Mercedes dealer rather than Super Jack's Foreign Auto repair. The job gets done right by experts in their field with complete quality assurance. I've had Mr. Handyman fix a rotting deck, install a dishwasher, repair a burst pipe, set up 3 wall mounted tv's and wire half my house. I never had to worry about the background of the Handyman in my house with 3 screaming kids running around, because I knew he'd been checked out and had an average of 15 years experience. I never had to worry about a mystery, discount laborer, scoping out my place with the idea of a late night return to subsidize his cheap labor rate. Every job was performed professionally by real professionals. I had one slight glitch over the years, with with a door latch on my deck that I actually busted while backing into it, and the owner, Ted, took care of it personally. No one on here has the time or inclination to really check out the people who are coming into their house. These days, it's a really serious proposition. My sister, who lives in Santa Monica, was literally sued by her own personal handyman after he cut himself installing plantation shutters. Surprise, surprise, his license and insurance were fake! And since this happened on her premises, she is now liable for $8500 in b.s. medical expenses. This is the insane world we live in, and why hiring a pro, and having true peace of mind is the cheapest and smartest thing you can do. Mr. Handyman has my vote for best of the Valley. we first had a consultation where we shared our design ideas and he provided his thoughts. we had later contact where we exchanged ideas. we eventually came to a design that we were all happy with. when he started working he had good attention to detail and high quality. we also felt he was honest. ultimately we were very happy with the work and although the prices seemed a bit high, if we had gone with someone cheaper i don't know if we would've received the same quality work.
