Customer Reviews in Canoga Park, California

  • Lloyd S.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars

Frank was on time, worked hard and was incredibly friendly and helpful. He explained to me what the problem is with our windows, letting us know what the options are and what he would do if it were his house. He replaced the cranks and unstuck the ones that wouldn't open. I would totally use him again.

  • James G.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars

Great! James identified the problem as an old track that was bending. I was scared it would require a huge hole in the wall of my tenants apartment. James replaced the track with a minimal hole and patched it up in only a couple hours.

I purchased a large (4 x 10) exterior window shade from an on-line source, figuring I could install it myself. WRONG! When I found myself standing on a shaky ladder, electric drill in one hand, screws and brackets in the other — with a 40 square-foot plate glass window looming a foot away from my face — I realized I had bit off more than I could chew. I found Mr. Handyman on Angie's list and called them. I explained the job and they a) promised to send a technician out within ONE HOUR; b) promised that he'd have everything needed (including a STABLE tall ladder) to do the job; and c) agreed to charge for just one hour instead of their typical two hour minimum. (In fact, they asked me to think of other stuff that might need fixing because the job would likely take less than an hour to complete!) Their technician, FRANK, showed up 45 minutes later. He eyeballed the job, returned to his truck, unloaded EVERYTHING needed to install the shade, got up on his ladder, measured everything perfectly, installed the shade and tie-down brackets, patched the holes in the exterior wall that I had clumsily made attempting to do it myself, explained that their work was guaranteed, collected the payment and left. He was a very nice guy, too; fun to chat with for a few minutes. I got a follow-up call form the company today just to make certain everything was done to my satisfaction. Mr. Handyman of Beverly Hills, Hollywood and the Valley is a really professional operation. Watching Frank at work, I really felt more than a little stupid about trying to do the job myself. I could easily have fallen through the glass window… and if I ever got the shade installed at all, it probably would have been crooked, or worse, broken off the wall the first time we needed to use it! Their rate is slightly higher than I've paid for handyman work in the past — but their work is a lot better. You get what you pay for.

They are very personable, professional and nice. They do very good quality work as well. They are clean and comprehensible, they know what they are doing and have a good sense of what is going on. They follow up and also found the carpenter who is doing the work. Everyone is very professional.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars

From the moment we called Mr. Handyman, until the job was finished, we were happy with the professionalism; price; and quality of the personnel. They promised us someone would come to fix louvred doors and shutters in two days, and then called us that there was an opening the next day. Before Jack arrived, Mr. Handyman emailed us a picture and resume of him. Jack was wonderful. He did finished the job in much less than the two hour minimum, and then asked if there was anything he could do for us. Of course there was, and he finished those little things for us as well. We would recommend Mr. Handyman and their entire outfit–they are a big city "handyman" organization with the same qualities that we came to expect from the local handyman that we all knew back in the 50's. We salute them on their care and quality.

Frequently Asked Questions About Drywall Repair & Drywall Installation in Canoga Park, CA

Mr. Handyman has been helping homeowners and businesses repair, maintain, and enhance their spaces for 30 years! We are the one-stop solution for everything on your to-do list. This includes answering your questions about home and business repairs, maintenance, and improvements. Here are answers to some of your most frequently asked questions about drywall repair and drywall installation.

  • Walls and ceilings that show dents, cracks, nail pops, or punctures are clear signs you may need drywall repair. While minor settling cracks are typical, larger or expanding cracks can indicate structural or moisture-related problems. Small blemishes may be corrected with drywall patching, but bigger impact damage often requires expert drywall finishing to achieve a smooth result. Stains, sagging areas, and peeling paint often indicate water damage behind your walls or ceilings. Because moisture weakens drywall from the inside, drywall patching may not fully resolve the issue. In many cases, sections must be removed and new drywall installation completed once the leak is corrected. Uneven wall texture, raised seams, or separating joint tape often signal failing drywall finishing. Over time, humidity and settling can cause seams to shift. An experienced handyman for drywall can secure the joints and refinish the surface for a seamless look. When drywall damage is widespread, involves overhead surfaces, or follows plumbing issues, it’s best to seek professional drywall repair. Experienced drywall contractors can reinforce the structure and prevent ongoing deterioration.

  • Drywall cracks and holes usually keep coming back because the underlying issue wasn’t fully addressed during the original drywall repair. Simply applying drywall patching compound may fix the surface temporarily, but if movement, moisture, or installation problems remain, the damage will reappear in the same spot. Structural movement and settling create stress along seams. If drywall installation wasn’t properly secured, cracks can return. Poor drywall finishing compounds may also fail. Moisture is another major factor. Humidity swings, plumbing leaks, or roof issues can cause drywall to expand and contract, weakening joints and creating soft spots. In these cases, professional drywall repair requires fixing the moisture source before refinishing. High-traffic impacts can also cause recurring holes if the prior drywall hole repair wasn’t reinforced properly. Skilled drywall contractors can strengthen the area to prevent future damage.

  • For minor wall damage, drywall patching restores the surface without replacing entire panels. The repair is secured, finished, and smoothed to match the surrounding area. If drywall has widespread damage or weakened framing support, full drywall installation provides a more durable solution than repeated drywall repair. More severe drywall repair situations may involve removing damaged areas and completing new drywall installation to prevent ongoing issues. A thorough inspection allows your drywall service provider to recommend the most effective approach for restoring both performance and appearance.

  • To prepare for drywall service, remove artwork and fragile items and create several feet of open space around the repair zone. Adequate clearance supports safe drywall repair and installation work. Fine particles from drywall finishing can settle beyond the repair zone. Preparing the space and reviewing dust control procedures helps protect your home during drywall service. If drywall repair is related to water damage, confirm that the source of moisture has been fully resolved before drywall installation or drywall finishing begins. Ongoing leaks from plumbing, roofing, or HVAC systems can weaken new materials and lead to repeated drywall repair. Addressing the root cause first helps protect the integrity of the new drywall and prevents future damage. Reviewing your drywall repair or drywall installation needs during an estimate helps set clear expectations and supports a smooth project experience.

  • DIY drywall patching often fails to address reinforcement behind the surface. Professional drywall service evaluates both visible damage and structural stability. For larger damage such as significant drywall hole repair or areas that require drywall installation, precision matters. Cutting, fastening, taping, and finishing must be done correctly to prevent cracking or separation after painting. A handyman for drywall can stabilize the area and restore structural integrity. Professional drywall repair includes assessing for moisture intrusion, settling, or structural movement that may be contributing to repeated damage. Get a comprehensive evaluation from service professionals who will recommend the appropriate drywall patching or installation approach.

  • When comparing drywall contractors in Canoga Park, look for clear experience with drywall repair, drywall finishing, drywall installation, and drywall hole repair. A qualified team should be able to explain the scope of work and identify whether drywall patching or panel replacement is the better solution. Clear communication about pricing, drywall repair steps, and drywall installation timing reflects a dependable drywall contractor. Consistent crews improve coordination during drywall installation and support stronger drywall finishing results. At Mr. Handyman in Canoga Park, California, drywall repair and drywall finishing are completed by dedicated service professionals, not outsourced drywall contractors, ensuring consistent quality work from a local team.
