I initially contacted Mr. Handyman in order to have some projects completed in my home. I wanted to have a drywall repair as well as some caulking along with a shower door install and have them frame an opening over my fireplace for my television and have the wires hidden. I was quoted at a day and a half of work for the said projects minus the shower door due to the fact that Mr. Handyman felt it was more of a custom job so they referred me to someone else. In the mean time I scheduled everything else to be done after discussing exactly what was to be done in my home. On April 13th, the handy was scheduled to arrive at my home at approximately 1pm however he did not show up until 130pm. As the handyman reviewed with me as to what would need to be completed, he told me that he could not do the fireplace because I needed an electrician and he could not be there until the next day, although this was discussed prior to them being hired what the scope of work would be. He then proceeded to perform the services however he then needed to leave and obtain materials in order to perform the job. According to the contract, if the handyman leaves to obtain materials, he is on the clock and you have to pay. However, I was able to not have to pay due to making it very clear prior to hiring the handyman as to what would be needed in order to perform the task. However, the handyman commenced working and completed caulking of the stairwell and told me he would come back to finish sanding. This job has now cost me 3 hours not including the hour that it took to go to the hardware store, and the drywall job was still incomplete. I called the office the next morning to discuss my concerns and I decided that I would no longer use their services due to the fact that it took 3 hours of time just to caulk stairs and still had not completed the drywall. I was told that he would return to finish sanding the drywall repair since it had not been done. I was under the impression that I would not be charged since he did not complete the task the day before nor did he complete the fireplace, however this was all the work left to be done since I would not be hiring for anything else. The Gentlemen returned to my home to complete the sanding and said to me I will caulk your fireplace since I did not do it yesterday, and I said ok fine. Not knowing that at the end of this I would be getting billed, I did. I was to be charged 115.00 for an hour and a quarter of work. The amount was however reduced after stating that the fireplace should have been completed the first day. So I end up paying an additional 69.00 just for sanding. If I knew that I would be charged they would not have come back. I am disappointed with the company due to the fact that I feel as though with the price I paid out, I should have received more work. I called the owner and expressed my concerns however of course he did not feel the same. Mr. Stark was very disrespectful. I did not have any issues with paying out the money for the work I received, however when the man returned today I was under the impression that he was only sanding and that I wouldn't be charged and he offered to perform the other service since he did not complete it on the initial day of hire. Because of all this Mr. Stark stated to me that basically I can only afford a 20.00 handy man and that I was not a good fit for his company and he also had the audacity to call my husband a liar. Of course however I believe this was Mr. Starks way of what you call trying to beat someone to the punch. Needless to say whether or not he felt I would be a good fit for his company or not did not matter because I wouldn't hire them again anyway and what makes him so unprofessional is the fact that he had call me back to say all of this after I paid the money. How unprofessional and callus of man Mr. Stark is. Other than not caring for Mr. Starks manners however, the gentleman that did perform the work did an excellent job. I would ask him to do work for me but not Mr. Handyman.

We had a leak under our kitchen sink and decided to simply replace the entire faucet. I purchased the faucet from Home Depot and needed someone to remove the old one and install the new one. In addition, we had a leak in the shower head that wouldn't stop. Larry did a great job in taking care of both problems. He took a look at both projects and told me right away what needed to be replaced for the shower leak. Unfortunately he said he did not have the part he needed on the truck for the shower. I offered and went to Home Depot to get the part he needed while he worked on replacing the kitchen faucet. He was estimated to be at my home for 2 – 3 hours, but completed both jobs in 1 hour flat. Mr. Handyman has set prices which is good, but they are a little pricey. Nonetheless, you do get a well qualified repairman and the job is done correctly and professionally. I would certainly recommend Larry for any plumbing problems we may have.

I had three tasks, repair dishwasher, install NEST Thermostat and repair kitchen outlet. My original appointment was in a week and i got a call about an opening and asked if I wanted the work completed earlier. Heck Yes I said. Additionally, he showed up 30 mins earlier than i was told which I loved. Extremely professional and very thorough, he talked me through everything that he was doing so there was no surprises. Loved his work and will def call Mr. Handyman again. Great price too!!

I gave the handyman a call and explained to them my problem. They told me that they could get someone out to take a look and offer me a free estimate. They explained the process to me and sent me an email with information on their billing process, rates and warranty. They arrived as planned (right on time) and the handyman came to door and introduced himself and let me explain the problem as I seen it. He then came into my home (even placed shoe protectors over his shoes so that he wouldn't track any dirt inside) and took a look at my window inside and out. He climbed up on his ladder and told me that the problem looked obvious. The window installers apparently didn't apply the proper size vinyl window trim and did a poor job caulking it. We rescheduled a day so that he could do the work and he came as scheduled to get it done. It took less than the estimated time he estimated so I had him install a ceiling fan for me while he was there. Mr. Handyman has a two (2) hour minimum billing rate for the initial work so that's why I asked him to work on my ceiling fan, also because I had a $25 coupon that was good for a discount off a two (2) hour job. Mr. Handyman did a great job and even cleaned up the area that he was working on. I kept an eye on the window during the next few rains and it appeared that my window leak was taken care of; however, I recently noticed a small drip starting again. I was concerned that I'd have to pay to get them back out again but they came back out and checked the leak again and applied a more durable caulk to stop the leak. The great thing was that they did this for me at no additional charge (covered under their warranty policy). I'm waiting for the next heavy rain to see if the problem was completely fixed because I need them to come back and take care of the interior caulk and paint damage that was previously caused, but I really appreciate the work that they did for me and the professionalism that they show. I feel that their rates were fair and I didn't get the feeling that I was being taken advantage of or overcharged.

Frequently Asked Questions About Carpentry Services in Unionville, VA

For 30 years, Mr. Handyman professionals have been helping homeowners and businesses repair, maintain, and enhance their spaces. We are a one-stop solution for everything on your to-do list. This includes answering your questions about home repairs, maintenance, and improvements. Here are answers to some of your most frequently asked questions about carpentry services in Unionville, Virginia.

  • Professional carpentry services from Mr. Handyman include trim installation, crown molding installation, and repairs to worn or damaged wood components. Many homeowners request baseboard upgrades, crown molding installation, custom shelving, and carpentry repair to restore worn or outdated wood elements throughout the home. In many cases, carpentry repair involves reinforcing or stabilizing damaged areas before cosmetic improvements are completed to ensure lasting performance. Looking for a local carpenter in Unionville? Your Mr. Handyman can assess your project and explain your options in a straightforward, professional way.

  • Yes. We can evaluate and repair trim, baseboards, and crown molding that have been impacted by wear, moisture, or minor damage. Carpentry repair may address localized wear, gaps, or visible damage without requiring full trim installation throughout the space. Before any work begins, we review the damage and the existing trim style to determine whether a targeted repair will do the job or if replacing a section is the smarter long-term fix. If you’re noticing damaged trim or molding in your home, your locally owned and operated Mr. Handyman can assess the area and recommend the most practical next step for your space.

  • Yes. Our carpentry services include both carpentry repair and new trim installation to maintain and upgrade finished wood features in your home. Projects can range from stabilizing loose or cracked trim to installing new baseboards and crown molding to refresh the look of a space. When damage is localized, repair may be sufficient, but broader wear or design updates may call for new trim installation instead. Looking for a local carpenter in Unionville? Your Mr. Handyman can evaluate your trim installation or repair project and provide clear guidance.

  • Crown molding installation usually begins with an assessment of the room and preparation of the work area. Then, a skilled service professional measures the walls and ceiling lines, evaluates corners and angles, and determines the best layout for the molding. This preparation helps ensure trim pieces align properly and create a consistent, professional appearance once installed. As a next step, the crown molding installation process involves precise measuring, cutting, and fitting of each molding piece. A skilled carpenter uses specialized tools to create accurate angle cuts so the molding fits tightly at corners and joints. Each section is secured carefully to the wall and ceiling framing to ensure it sits evenly and remains stable over time. During installation, the service professional may perform minor carpentry repair when needed. Uneven surfaces, small gaps, or existing trim issues may require adjustment before the molding is installed. These corrections help ensure the finished result blends naturally with surrounding trim installation and interior details. The final steps usually include filling nail holes, smoothing joints, and checking alignment, once the crown molding has been installed. These finishing touches prepare the molding for painting or finishing. Professional carpentry services focus on careful installation so crown molding enhances the room’s overall appearance.

  • The overall time frame for trim installation varies according to project complexity and installation requirements. The number of rooms and the type of molding selected both influence how the trim installation process unfolds. Factors like ceiling height, wall alignment, existing trim removal, and material type can all influence the overall duration. A professional assessment helps determine what to expect based on your home’s specific layout. Homeowners in Unionville can connect with our team for a professional assessment prior to starting trim installation.

  • Hiring a local carpenter should begin with evaluating their experience in the type of project you need. Carpentry professionals may specialize in carpentry repair, trim installation, or crown molding installation. Choosing someone familiar with your project type can help ensure a smoother installation process. You should also review the range of carpentry services the professional offers. A skilled carpenter handyman should be capable of performing both installations and repairs throughout the home. This flexibility allows you to address trim, molding, shelving, or other woodwork projects at the same time. Clear communication should also be part of the hiring process. A trustworthy carpenter will outline the scope of work, discuss materials, and provide an accurate estimate before the job begins. Professional carpentry services aim to keep homeowners informed throughout the project. Lastly, look for a carpenter known for attention to detail. Quality carpentry requires precise measurements and careful finishing. An experienced local carpenter can ensure trim and molding are installed properly and enhance the home’s overall look.
