Rating: 5 out of 5 stars★ ★ ★ ★ ★☆ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆I had a company come in and clean my dryer vent in February of 2015. When I began having problems with my clothes drying, I thought it was an issue with the dryer. I eventually found that the problem was not with the dryer but because the duct was actually disconnected. To make matters worse, my dryer is on the first floor and i have a finished basement. There was only a very narrow access to the duct in the utility room. I had been told that a great sized area of dry wall would have to be cut out to reach the duct. I contacted Mr. Handyman and they sent someone out the same day. Please note this was New Year's Eve!!! Michael was excellent. I don't know how he did it but he was able to reconnect the duct without damaging the drywall. He also found that the brush and wand had broken off of the equipment the company that did the initial duct cleaning was using and was stuck in the duct. I am still questioning how that company supposedly did not notice they were missing a brush and approximately 3 feet of wand off of their equipment!!! Even when the duct was reconnected, the air was not flowing to the outside vent. There was a massive lint build up from the brush clogging the duct. Michael cleaned this out also. The amount of lint he pulled out made me question if the initial company had even provided the services I was charged for. Given the responsiveness, customer service and cost savings (I would have paid a lot more to repair drywall) I will definitely use Mr. Handyman again.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars★ ★ ★ ★ ★☆ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆I initially contacted Mr. Handyman in order to have some projects completed in my home. I wanted to have a drywall repair as well as some caulking along with a shower door install and have them frame an opening over my fireplace for my television and have the wires hidden. I was quoted at a day and a half of work for the said projects minus the shower door due to the fact that Mr. Handyman felt it was more of a custom job so they referred me to someone else. In the mean time I scheduled everything else to be done after discussing exactly what was to be done in my home. On April 13th, the handy was scheduled to arrive at my home at approximately 1pm however he did not show up until 130pm. As the handyman reviewed with me as to what would need to be completed, he told me that he could not do the fireplace because I needed an electrician and he could not be there until the next day, although this was discussed prior to them being hired what the scope of work would be. He then proceeded to perform the services however he then needed to leave and obtain materials in order to perform the job. According to the contract, if the handyman leaves to obtain materials, he is on the clock and you have to pay. However, I was able to not have to pay due to making it very clear prior to hiring the handyman as to what would be needed in order to perform the task. However, the handyman commenced working and completed caulking of the stairwell and told me he would come back to finish sanding. This job has now cost me 3 hours not including the hour that it took to go to the hardware store, and the drywall job was still incomplete. I called the office the next morning to discuss my concerns and I decided that I would no longer use their services due to the fact that it took 3 hours of time just to caulk stairs and still had not completed the drywall. I was told that he would return to finish sanding the drywall repair since it had not been done. I was under the impression that I would not be charged since he did not complete the task the day before nor did he complete the fireplace, however this was all the work left to be done since I would not be hiring for anything else. The Gentlemen returned to my home to complete the sanding and said to me I will caulk your fireplace since I did not do it yesterday, and I said ok fine. Not knowing that at the end of this I would be getting billed, I did. I was to be charged 115.00 for an hour and a quarter of work. The amount was however reduced after stating that the fireplace should have been completed the first day. So I end up paying an additional 69.00 just for sanding. If I knew that I would be charged they would not have come back. I am disappointed with the company due to the fact that I feel as though with the price I paid out, I should have received more work. I called the owner and expressed my concerns however of course he did not feel the same. Mr. Stark was very disrespectful. I did not have any issues with paying out the money for the work I received, however when the man returned today I was under the impression that he was only sanding and that I wouldn't be charged and he offered to perform the other service since he did not complete it on the initial day of hire. Because of all this Mr. Stark stated to me that basically I can only afford a 20.00 handy man and that I was not a good fit for his company and he also had the audacity to call my husband a liar. Of course however I believe this was Mr. Starks way of what you call trying to beat someone to the punch. Needless to say whether or not he felt I would be a good fit for his company or not did not matter because I wouldn't hire them again anyway and what makes him so unprofessional is the fact that he had call me back to say all of this after I paid the money. How unprofessional and callus of man Mr. Stark is. Other than not caring for Mr. Starks manners however, the gentleman that did perform the work did an excellent job. I would ask him to do work for me but not Mr. Handyman.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars★ ★ ★ ★ ★☆ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆Mr. Handyman has done a lot of work at my house. They've repaired a section of fence when the wind tore through my development and checked my roof for damages from the same wind. They've installed light fixtures and several small jobs. I'm writing about my closet. In short, the coated-wire closet shelves collapsed from the weight of my clothes. I came home from work to find that everything that was on the walls of my walk-in was now a jumble of shoes, clothes, wire shelves, and screws on the floor. A few months later, I finally called Mr. Handyman to be sure that they had someone that could install the closet system that I bought. We scheduled a date and the gentleman came by to get started the next day. I received a call when he arrived to get a better understanding of my instructions and badly drawn diagram of where each piece would go. The Mr. Handyman guy did a great job, consulted with me often while he worked and did a great job. Their cost per hour is a bit steep, but it's worth the cost for jobs that are better estimated so you can budget. This job took two days but almost two years later…it's still up and I have even more clothes now than then.

They were prompt, kind and honest. What I called about turned out to be beyond their scope. They gave me a good recommendation and didn't charge me, which really surprised me. I have been charged in that situation several times in my life by different companies for home repair things. Frequently Asked Questions About Drywall Repair & Drywall Installation in Woodford, VA
Mr. Handyman has been helping homeowners and businesses repair, maintain, and enhance their spaces for 30 years! We are the one-stop solution for everything on your to-do list. This includes answering your questions about home and business repairs, maintenance, and improvements. Here are answers to some of your most frequently asked questions about drywall repair and drywall installation.
-
If your walls or ceilings show cracks, holes, dents, or popped fasteners, it may be time for drywall repair or drywall patching. Hairline fractures are common in many homes, but cracks that spread or return after repainting often suggest deeper issues. Small punctures can usually be handled with drywall hole repair, while larger damage may require experienced drywall contractors to properly restore the area. Water damage is a clear indicator that you may need professional drywall repair. Yellow or brown stains, bubbling paint, sagging sections, or soft drywall often point to a hidden leak. In many cases, simple drywall patching isn’t enough — compromised areas may require removal and partial drywall installation once the moisture issue is resolved. Left untreated, water damage can lead to mold and structural weakening. You may need drywall repair if you notice peeling joint tape, exposed seams, uneven texture, or bulging sections. These problems often stem from poor drywall finishing, moisture fluctuations, or improper drywall installation. When tape lifts or seams separate, professional drywall patching and refinishing can restore a smooth surface. If you’re dealing with extensive damage, multiple affected areas, or drywall compromised by leaks, professional drywall service is recommended. Proper drywall repair reinforces the wall and prevents recurring seam or texture issues.
-
If cracks and holes continue to show up, the original drywall repair likely missed a deeper issue. Cosmetic drywall patching alone rarely prevents recurrence. Homes naturally settle, and framing shifts create stress on seams and fasteners. Without proper drywall installation and secure finishing, cracks often return. Moisture from plumbing or roof leaks can compromise drywall integrity. Professional drywall repair should always include eliminating the water source first. Areas exposed to frequent bumps may reopen if the drywall hole repair wasn’t reinforced. A handyman for drywall can provide a stronger, longer-lasting solution.
-
When damage is minimal, drywall patching restores smooth surfaces without requiring full drywall installation. Replacing damaged panels through drywall installation restores stability and supports long term drywall finishing performance. Water damage, extensive cracking, or sagging ceilings often require partial drywall installation instead of repeated patching. Replacing compromised panels ensures the new drywall repair bonds properly and performs long term. An experienced drywall contractor will assess the condition of the wall and determine whether drywall repair or drywall installation provides the most reliable long term outcome.
-
Before your drywall repair or drywall installation appointment, take down décor, mirrors, and shelving near the work area. Shifting furniture away from the wall creates a safer workspace and reduces the risk of dust settling on nearby belongings during drywall service. Dust from sanding during drywall repair or drywall installation can spread to surrounding rooms. Taking steps to cover or remove nearby items helps reduce cleanup after drywall finishing is complete. Drywall repair connected to leaks requires resolving the moisture issue first. New drywall installation will not perform properly if the underlying problem remains. A detailed estimate outlines the recommended drywall repair approach, expected timeline, and preparation guidance so you can plan accordingly.
-
Attempting drywall patching without the right tools or experience can leave uneven surfaces that show through paint. Professional drywall service ensures panels are secured and finished properly. Larger wall damage requires careful drywall hole repair and reinforcement to restore stability before finishing begins. Instead of repeatedly repairing the same area, a comprehensive drywall repair approach helps deliver longer lasting results. Scheduling an estimate in Woodford, Virginia allows you to review the recommended drywall repair or drywall installation plan before work begins.
-
Qualified drywall contractors in Woodford provide detailed insight into drywall hole repair, drywall finishing techniques, and overall drywall service planning. Reputable drywall contractors provide detailed estimates, outline timelines, and describe how they will protect your home during drywall service. Transparency in pricing and process helps you avoid unexpected issues later. Selecting locally owned drywall contractors ensures your drywall repair and drywall installation are handled by a consistent team familiar with your project. In Woodford, Virginia, your drywall service from Mr. Handyman is handled by a dedicated local team focused on accurate drywall repair and durable drywall installation.
