Words don't escape me when it comes to work completed by Frank Thompson. Punctual, professional, courteous, and most importantly, very efficient. Frank completed the list I had of projects and all with a smile. I have been so disappointed in contractors and when I reached out to Mr Handyman, I just knew I would be disappointed again. I WAS WRONG and I am happy to have been proven wrong. I will NEVER call on any other contractor again. The most impressive work was what my puppies chewed and my bathroom ceiling! There was also the loose electrical wire for my garage floodlight which Frank managed to find and repair!

I was impressed with the provider from the first phone call. Alan knew right away that they could help, anticipated my questions about insurance and rates before I could even ask, and explained the limitations of service upfront. On the day of service, Dick was on time, friendly, and VERY knowledgeable of what needed to be done. He knew what caulking needed to be totally replaced, and what ones just needed spot fixes- all done appropriately. He worked efficiently, and his work was much better than my husband or I could have done. I will definitely be calling them again for other jobs.

Pros and Cons I had been looking for a carpenter for a bit and heard from someone that they hired Frank to do some work for them. He installed baseboards, door thresholds and a railing. I scheduled 3 weeks ahead for a two day job. He was respectful, cleaned up well and my wife was thrilled with his work. The con was, the main office scheduled him to go to another job on the second morning. He finally did show up 2.5 hours later and was able to finish the work I hired him for. I'd hire Frank in a minute, but don't appreciate the main office pulling him to another job in the middle of my job.

We have nothing but praise for Mr. Handyman of Northern Baltimore County. Their Customer Service Representatives were professional, kind, patient, and extremely responsive, and Michael, the Technician who came to perform the work, did an amazing job. Michael was professional, respectful of my mother’s home, skilled, and extremely experienced. When I called Mr. Handyman of Northern Baltimore County, I explained that my mother had a leaking pipe behind custom, hand-carved wood paneling and a bar that my father installed many years ago, and we needed a handyman with carpentry experience to remove the paneling/trim with as little damage as possible to enable it to be put back after the pipe was fixed. I also explained that we knew that there is mold behind the wall. None of this deterred Mr. Handyman. After uploading pictures of the wall and bar, they selected Michael as the best Technician for the job, and they were right. Michael reviewed the photos first, and based on his evaluation, Mr. Handyman provided us with accurate time and cost estimates. Michael showed up on time and carefully removed the hand-carved wood trim and wall panels so that they can be replaced after the pipe is fixed. He also took out a double sink, part of the hand-carved bar top, and stucco ceiling to enable full access to the pipes. He did everything in such a way that it can be re-installed down the road when we are ready. Please note that we didn’t have Michael repair the pipe(s) because my mother has a service plan which covers plumbing. Based on this experience, we would definitely hire Mr. Handyman of Northern Baltimore County again.

Frequently Asked Questions About Drywall Repair & Drywall Installation in Fort Howard, MD

Mr. Handyman has been helping homeowners and businesses repair, maintain, and enhance their spaces for 30 years! We are the one-stop solution for everything on your to-do list. This includes answering your questions about home and business repairs, maintenance, and improvements. Here are answers to some of your most frequently asked questions about drywall repair and drywall installation.

  • Walls and ceilings that show dents, cracks, nail pops, or punctures are clear signs you may need drywall repair. While minor settling cracks are typical, larger or expanding cracks can indicate structural or moisture-related problems. Small blemishes may be corrected with drywall patching, but bigger impact damage often requires expert drywall finishing to achieve a smooth result. Stains, sagging areas, and peeling paint often indicate water damage behind your walls or ceilings. Because moisture weakens drywall from the inside, drywall patching may not fully resolve the issue. In many cases, sections must be removed and new drywall installation completed once the leak is corrected. Uneven wall texture, raised seams, or separating joint tape often signal failing drywall finishing. Over time, humidity and settling can cause seams to shift. An experienced handyman for drywall can secure the joints and refinish the surface for a seamless look. When drywall damage is widespread, involves overhead surfaces, or follows plumbing issues, it’s best to seek professional drywall repair. Experienced drywall contractors can reinforce the structure and prevent ongoing deterioration.

  • Drywall cracks and holes usually keep coming back because the underlying issue wasn’t fully addressed during the original drywall repair. Simply applying drywall patching compound may fix the surface temporarily, but if movement, moisture, or installation problems remain, the damage will reappear in the same spot. Structural movement and settling create stress along seams. If drywall installation wasn’t properly secured, cracks can return. Poor drywall finishing compounds may also fail. Moisture is another major factor. Humidity swings, plumbing leaks, or roof issues can cause drywall to expand and contract, weakening joints and creating soft spots. In these cases, professional drywall repair requires fixing the moisture source before refinishing. High-traffic impacts can also cause recurring holes if the prior drywall hole repair wasn’t reinforced properly. Skilled drywall contractors can strengthen the area to prevent future damage.

  • For minor wall damage, drywall patching restores the surface without replacing entire panels. The repair is secured, finished, and smoothed to match the surrounding area. If drywall has widespread damage or weakened framing support, full drywall installation provides a more durable solution than repeated drywall repair. More severe drywall repair situations may involve removing damaged areas and completing new drywall installation to prevent ongoing issues. A thorough inspection allows your drywall service provider to recommend the most effective approach for restoring both performance and appearance.

  • To prepare for drywall service, remove artwork and fragile items and create several feet of open space around the repair zone. Adequate clearance supports safe drywall repair and installation work. Fine particles from drywall finishing can settle beyond the repair zone. Preparing the space and reviewing dust control procedures helps protect your home during drywall service. If drywall repair is related to water damage, confirm that the source of moisture has been fully resolved before drywall installation or drywall finishing begins. Ongoing leaks from plumbing, roofing, or HVAC systems can weaken new materials and lead to repeated drywall repair. Addressing the root cause first helps protect the integrity of the new drywall and prevents future damage. Reviewing your drywall repair or drywall installation needs during an estimate helps set clear expectations and supports a smooth project experience.

  • DIY drywall patching often fails to address reinforcement behind the surface. Professional drywall service evaluates both visible damage and structural stability. For larger damage such as significant drywall hole repair or areas that require drywall installation, precision matters. Cutting, fastening, taping, and finishing must be done correctly to prevent cracking or separation after painting. A handyman for drywall can stabilize the area and restore structural integrity. Professional drywall repair includes assessing for moisture intrusion, settling, or structural movement that may be contributing to repeated damage. Get a comprehensive evaluation from service professionals who will recommend the appropriate drywall patching or installation approach.

  • When comparing drywall contractors in Fort Howard, look for clear experience with drywall repair, drywall finishing, drywall installation, and drywall hole repair. A qualified team should be able to explain the scope of work and identify whether drywall patching or panel replacement is the better solution. Clear communication about pricing, drywall repair steps, and drywall installation timing reflects a dependable drywall contractor. Consistent crews improve coordination during drywall installation and support stronger drywall finishing results. At Mr. Handyman in Fort Howard, Maryland, drywall repair and drywall finishing are completed by dedicated service professionals, not outsourced drywall contractors, ensuring consistent quality work from a local team.
