    Jo McCabe

    Owner

    Jo McCabe is the local franchise owner of Mr. Handyman. A retired U.S. Navy veteran, Jo served as an Aircraft Maintenance Officer and Security Officer, bringing decades of leadership, operational discipline, and service-first values into her business. Although she grew up moving frequently due to her family’s military background, Jo considers Northern Virginia home, having completed her final three years of high school in Manassas and graduating from Osbourn Park High School. In 2008, she purchased the Mr. Handyman franchise and has since focused on building an exceptional team dedicated to providing reliable, high-quality service and an outstanding customer experience. Community involvement is a core part of Jo’s mission. She is especially proud of her company’s long-standing participation in the National Day of Service, where each year her team partners with local businesses to provide free home repairs—both labor and materials—to a local military veteran or military family in need. Outside of work, Jo is an avid beekeeper, maintaining multiple hives on her own property and volunteering her time to assist other local beekeepers. She is an active member of the Prince William Regional Beekeepers Association and frequently works alongside her Service Professionals to safely remove and relocate honey bee hives from homes and structures, protecting both homeowners and these vital pollinators. Jo also serves on the Board of Directors for Habitat for Humanity Prince William County, a role she has held since 2022, and on the Board of Directors for the Prince William Chamber of Commerce since 2025, further reflecting her commitment to service, housing stability, and giving back to the community.

    Activities Director & Greeter

    Zoe is our beloved Office Greeter and Activities Director. She joined the Mr. Handyman team in 2019 and has been boosting morale ever since. Zoe takes her role seriously, making sure the office staff gets their daily dose of fresh air, exercise, and much-needed movement breaks. She is also responsible for welcoming visitors and delivery drivers, ensuring every delivery is met with proper attention—and preferably a dog treat. When she’s not supervising the office or inspecting incoming packages, Zoe can usually be found making the rounds for pets, spreading smiles, and keeping the workplace fun, friendly, and stress-free.

    Accounting Manager

    Kim is our Accounting Manager and one of the key people who keeps Mr. Handyman of Northern Virginia running smoothly behind the scenes. Since joining the team in 2018, she has become an essential resource for our clients, Service Professionals, and leadership team alike. With 10+ years of industry experience, Kim brings structure, clarity, and consistency to everything she touches. Kim has an exceptional command of the numbers and plays a vital role in supporting both residential and commercial projects—especially larger or multi-phase jobs where accuracy and communication matter most. Clients often work directly with Kim and quickly appreciate her attention to detail, follow-through, and ability to make complex processes feel simple and seamless. Beyond accounting, Kim is instrumental in training our Service Professionals on systems, processes, and best practices that set them up for success. She also supports and trains other Mr. Handyman franchise owners, sharing her knowledge and helping elevate operations well beyond our local office. Kim is equally passionate about team culture. She’s the driving force behind many of our team-building events, including our annual National Day of Service, as well as cookouts, warehouse karaoke, and any gathering that brings the team together. If there’s a grill involved, there’s a very good chance Kim is running it. Her personal “toolbox” essential? Pens—every color of the rainbow and then some. Outside of work, Kim enjoys eating at Red Lobster and shopping Bath & Body Works, and she has an impressive collection of Jordan shoes that reflects her fun, detail-loving personality. With her organization, leadership, and genuine care for people and process, Kim plays a critical role in delivering the professional, reliable service our clients expect—and in making our workplace a supportive, energetic place to be.

    Office Administrator

    Nancy is our Office Administrator and a steady, behind-the-scenes force who helps keep both our team and client experience running smoothly. With 35+ years of industry experience, she brings a depth of knowledge, organization, and care that touches nearly every part of our operation. Nancy plays a key role in building our team by managing job postings and conducting initial candidate interviews—often serving as the first friendly voice future Service Professionals encounter. She also carefully reviews every estimate for accuracy before it’s sent to clients, providing an important layer of quality control that helps set clear expectations from the very beginning of each project. Creativity is another one of Nancy’s strengths. She loves repurposing thrifted and found items and has contributed her artistic talents to everything from designing and decorating parade floats to painting a bee hive box during one of our honey bee relocation projects. Her must-have “tool”? Her car keys. When she’s not at the office, Nancy is often serving as the family “mom taxi,” keeping everyone where they need to be. In her free time, she enjoys browsing 2nd & Charles and putting her lifelong love of history and trivia to good use—she even won 1st place in a New York State History Trivia Contest in high school, a passion that’s stayed with her ever since. Above all, Nancy has a genuine heart for people. She’s always looking for the right moment to send a handwritten note—celebrating milestones, offering encouragement, or simply letting someone know they’re cared for. Through her organization, creativity, and thoughtfulness, Nancy helps make every interaction with Mr. Handyman feel both professional and deeply personal.

    Commercial Accounts Manager

    Chenita, affectionately known as “The Wrangler,” has been a cornerstone of our commercial operations since joining the Mr. Handyman of Northern Virginia team in 2022. With 25 years of industry experience, she is the trusted point of contact for our commercial clients and the steady force behind some of our largest and most complex projects. Chenita manages commercial relationships from start to finish, keeping schedules aligned, details organized, and expectations crystal clear. If something (or someone) needs wrangling—office staff, Service Professionals, or even the owner—Chenita is on it. Her persistence, organization, and no-nonsense follow-through keep projects moving smoothly and clients well cared for. She enjoys almost anything hands-on, thrives on solving logistical puzzles, and plays a major role in shaping our team culture. From decorating the office for holidays to expertly lining up vehicles during our National Day of Service, Chenita ensures everything—and everyone—is exactly where it needs to be. Her personal toolbox essential? Chocolate. Her favorite local spot? Anywhere chocolate is involved. And when she’s not keeping our commercial operations running like a well-oiled machine, Chenita is often roller skating or relaxing around her fire pit (although sometimes affectionately referred to as a pyromaniac by her close friends and family) —adding to her legendary status and playful reputation on the team. With her experience, determination, and good-humored leadership, Chenita keeps our commercial clients confident, our team aligned, and our operations running efficiently every single day.

    Kayla is our Residential Customer Service Representative and one of the friendly, knowledgeable voices you’re most likely to speak with when you contact Mr. Handyman of Northern Virginia. With over 13 years of industry experience, she plays a key role in making sure our residential clients feel informed, supported, and confident from their very first interaction. Kayla thrives on complex projects that require research and problem-solving. She enjoys digging into the details, asking the right questions, and helping match each client with the best solution for their needs. Her attention to detail and natural organization skills help ensure jobs are scheduled accurately and expectations are clearly set. Her must-have “tool”? A tape measure—because getting the details right matters. And true to her fun fact, Kayla genuinely loves organizing anything and everything, a trait that shows up daily in how she manages calls, schedules, and client information. Outside of work, Kayla enjoys watching New York Giants football while cheering them on at Buffalo Wild Wings.     Hailey joined the Mr. Handyman of Northern Virginia team in 2025 and brings over 5 years of customer service experience to her role. She quickly learned the ropes and now plays a key part in supporting our residential clients throughout their project journey. If you have an open estimate with us, there’s a good chance Hailey will be the one following up to help get your project scheduled or to adjust the scope of work if needed. She also handles many of the initial calls from new clients, scheduling estimates and making sure the right information is captured from the start so projects can move forward smoothly. Hailey is known for her friendly approach, clear communication, and ability to keep projects organized and on track. Clients appreciate her responsiveness and the care she takes in making sure nothing falls through the cracks. Outside of work, Hailey has a unique and meaningful hobby—reptiles. In addition to caring for her own snakes and lizards, she also rescues and nurses injured reptiles back to health, a reflection of her patience, compassion, and attention to detail.     Bobby has been part of the Mr. Handyman of Northern Virginia team since 2021, bringing more than 10 years of hands-on industry experience to homes across the area. He’s the go-to pro for knocking out those small but important projects that tend to linger on to-do lists—and he genuinely enjoys helping homeowners see real progress, one project at a time. His favorite work? Carpentry. Bobby loves working with wood and takes pride in the craftsmanship that comes with it. He also specializes in drywall repairs and assembly work, approaching every job with precision, patience, and a strong eye for detail. If his multitool (oscillator) isn’t nearby, something’s not right—it’s his must-have tool for getting the job done efficiently and correctly. Bobby understands that trust matters when inviting someone into your home. That’s why he focuses on clear communication, reliability, and doing the work right the first time—so clients feel comfortable, informed, and confident from start to finish.     Jerry is our Estimator and Project Manager and a key leader on the Mr. Handyman of Northern Virginia team. He joined the team in 2021 and brings an impressive 42 years of experience in the construction industry. Starting out as a Service Professional, Jerry quickly earned his way into his current role, where he now oversees many of our larger residential projects as well as a significant portion of our commercial work. Jerry’s favorite projects are bathroom and kitchen remodels, where his deep experience truly shines. He is highly skilled in carpentry, drywall, painting, electrical, and plumbing, and is especially known for his ability to troubleshoot challenges and create practical, cost-effective solutions. Whether he’s estimating a project, managing timelines, or coordinating crews, Jerry is focused on efficiency, safety, and high-quality results. A drill is the one tool Jerry never goes without—but his real strength is his leadership and attention to detail. He enjoys working closely with clients to turn ideas into well-executed projects and takes pride in delivering a smooth, well-managed experience from start to finish. When he’s not on a job site (which isn’t very often), Jerry enjoys spending time with his daughter and son. And fun fact—Jerry also owns a fan company in California, proving his passion for building extends far beyond Northern Virginia. Luis’s favorite work is carpentry and drywall, where his precision and attention to detail really stand out—from small patches to complex restoration work. He also brings strong skills in electrical and plumbing, making him a well-rounded professional who can confidently handle multi-scope commercial projects. When asked about his must-have tool, Luis will tell you he needs all of them—because being prepared is part of doing the job right. Clients appreciate Luis’s calm, confident demeanor and clear communication. He takes the time to understand project needs and is always willing to share thoughtful insight on current work or future improvements when requested. Before joining the trades full time, Luis spent part of his career as a professional bull rider, a background that speaks to his discipline, focus, and ability to stay composed under pressure. Outside of work, he’s a lifelong soccer fan and player, having played for over 45 years—though he’ll admit he doesn’t quite keep up like he used to. He also enjoys discovering local Peruvian chicken spots and supporting small, new carryout restaurants. He originally joined the team in 2008 when the current owner purchased the business, and after spending additional years in the construction industry, he returned in 2024—bringing with him 30+ years of hands-on trade experience. Chris’s favorite projects are electrical and carpentry work, where his problem-solving skills and craftsmanship really shine. From smaller repairs to full kitchen and bathroom remodels, he takes pride in completing projects safely, efficiently, and to a high standard. His must-have tool? A table saw—a staple for the precise carpentry work he’s known for. In addition to his general handyman expertise, Chris is also a key member of our honey bee removal team. When bees have built a hive inside a home or structure, Chris is often the one evaluating the situation and helping safely remove and relocate the hive—protecting both the property and the bees themselves. Clients appreciate Chris for his approachable nature, steady demeanor, and willingness to talk through both current and future projects. Maurice’s favorite projects include building custom pieces out of wood and creating theater walls, where his craftsmanship and eye for detail really shine. His skill set spans carpentry, electrical, plumbing, drywall, and painting, allowing him to confidently handle a wide range of projects from start to finish. His must-have accessory on the job? Knee pads—because doing quality work also means taking care of your body. Maurice describes himself as solution-based, and he genuinely enjoys finding practical, thoughtful answers to clients’ problems. Whether he’s troubleshooting an unexpected challenge or helping refine a project plan, he takes pride in delivering results that work well and last. Maurice actually started with us one day before his birthday and has shared that joining the team was a pretty great birthday present. One thing he made clear right away, though—he has no interest in joining our honey bee removal team due to a bee allergy. Don’t worry, we do our best to keep Maurice focused on interior projects whenever possible. When he’s not on the job, Maurice enjoys playing basketball with his son, a pastime that reflects the same energy and teamwork he brings to his work.     Our 2024 National Day of Service was a powerful reminder of what can be accomplished when a community comes together. This year, our team—along with approximately 40 local business partners and volunteers—had the privilege of providing critical home repairs for a local U.S. Army veteran who served in the early 1970s. Working side by side, we completed 51 home improvement projects in a single day, including deck and fence repairs, window and door replacements, wood rot and drywall repairs, appliance replacements, electrical work, flooring, caulking, painting, pressure washing, and HVAC service. Every project was completed with care, respect, and gratitude for the veteran we were honored to serve. We are incredibly thankful for our local business partners, volunteers, and team members who donated their time, skills, and resources to make this day possible. Their generosity and commitment made a meaningful difference. Mr. Handyman is proud to support our military veterans, and we are grateful for their service and sacrifice. We look forward to continuing this tradition and assisting another deserving veteran next year.

    Our 2023 National Day of Service was a meaningful day of gratitude, teamwork, and community support. Our team, alongside approximately 40 local business owners and their teams, had the privilege of honoring Donna Diehl, a U.S. Army nurse who served during the Vietnam War. Together, we worked to complete much-needed home repairs and improvements, including deck repair and staining, fence repair, landscaping work, drywall repair, door replacement, bathroom vanity replacement, painting, and handrail installation. Each project was completed with care and respect, with the shared goal of giving back to someone who gave so much in service to our country. We are incredibly grateful to our local business partners and volunteers who donated their time, skills, and resources to make this day possible. Their generosity turned a day of service into a lasting impact. It was truly an honor to thank Donna for her service and to provide the maintenance and repairs she needed. This day was a powerful example of how a community can come together to support and serve our veterans.

    For more than 13 consecutive years, Mr. Handyman of Northern Virginia has been honored to give back to our community by providing free home repairs and maintenance to a local military veteran and their family. In 2022, we had the privilege of recognizing Ron Beyer and his wife, Carol, in gratitude for Ron’s service and sacrifice. Ron is a disabled U.S. Army veteran who proudly served our country from 1965 to 1985. To help make daily life in their home safer and more manageable, Mr. Handyman partnered with several local service businesses to complete a wide range of much-needed projects in just one day. The work included the installation of a chair lift, handrails, deck repairs and maintenance, landscaping, painting, gutter cleaning, power washing, HVAC service, and two bathroom renovations. While it was a long day for Ron and Carol to temporarily vacate their home, they were truly amazed by how much our team and community partners were able to accomplish. Seeing their reactions at the end of the day—when they returned home to meaningful improvements made in their honor—is why our team stays until the very end. We are incredibly grateful to Ron, his family, and all military veterans for their service to our country. It is an honor to give back in a way that helps make home a safer, more comfortable place.

Having Fun in the Process is one of our core Codes of Values, and we make a point to build it into our schedule whenever we can. Team-building events like this give us the chance to step away from job sites, get to know each other outside of work, blow off a little steam, and strengthen the relationships that ultimately help us better serve our clients. Bonus points for supporting our local commercial partners along the way. This particular outing confirmed one important thing: we’re much better at gutter cleaning than bowling — but that didn’t stop us from having a great time at Uptown Alley.
