Rating: 5 out of 5 stars

I contacted the provider at 8am and they had someone at my rental property by 12 noon to fix a garage door as well as to clean out gutters. They contacted my renters prior to showing up at the house, were professional, respectful and did the jobs right on the spot. I would highly recommend Mr. Handyman!!!!

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars

I have used Mr Handyman of the Western Main Line for a couple of jobs which were not slam dunks and have my third project about to be scheduled. Experience Example: Richard (owner) and Vladamir (engineer) are both exceptional. One of my jobs was a thermostat for a radiant heat floor. Richard was completely consultative in working with me 'before the sale' to ensure I ordered the right model (there were many and naturally the one I was about to order was incorrect. Richard guided me to the correct model). Vladamir came to the house fully prepared (had read the manual with regards to electrical connections and functionality) and stayed for a good 25 minutes 'after' installation to monitor the performance of the thermostat to 'his' satisfaction (pride of work). That was a couple of months ago and the system continues to operate flawlessly. I have complete confidence in them and will absolutely use them as future needs dictate. In addition the staff is great, responsive and professional.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars

Tim hung 2 heavy mirrors and made it look simple. Both went up w careful consideration of hanging them safely on studs and perfect placement. No need for any adjustments and he cleaned up afterwards. It was difficult to find someone to do this work and we are very happy. Wish I had called sooner!

Very professional. He even did extras since he still had time on the hour service call

Frequently Asked Questions About Deck Repair

Mr. Handyman has been helping homeowners and businesses repair, maintain, and enhance their spaces for over 25 years! We are the one-stop solution for everything on your to-do list. This includes answering your questions about home repairs, maintenance, and improvements. Here are answers to some of your most frequently asked questions about deck repair and deck installation.

  • Repair costs are determined by the size of the deck, the materials used, and how much damage needs to be addressed. Simple repairs like replacing boards or tightening railings are typically less involved than structural deck restoration. Repair costs rise when damage reaches the framing or support posts. Conditions such as rot, water damage, or shifting footings often require larger deck repair or partial replacement. Small repairs that keep returning may mean the framing has been affected by moisture. Boards may soften again and railings may loosen over time. In these cases surface level deck repair may not resolve the root cause. The best way to understand deck repair costs is through a thorough project evaluation. A local deck builder in Lincoln University can review the condition of your deck, discuss repair or replacement options, and explain the scope of work.

  • Homeowners insurance may help cover deck repair, but coverage depends on the cause of the damage rather than simply needing repairs. Most policies cover deck damage caused by sudden, accidental events such as storms, fallen trees, fire, vandalism, or vehicle impact. Because decks are often considered part of the home’s structure or an attached feature, insurance may help pay for repairs or replacement after the deductible. Damage caused by normal wear and tear or poor maintenance is usually not covered. Issues such as rotting deck boards, loose railings, aging hardware, or long-term moisture damage are typically considered homeowner maintenance responsibilities. If you’re unsure about coverage, obtaining a written inspection can help when speaking with your insurance provider. Documentation about damaged boards, loose railings, or structural framing can clarify whether deck repair or deck replacement may be necessary.

  • Many homeowners start with a single board replacement. Deck repair usually involves more than surface boards. Framing, ledger boards, and support posts support the structure and require proper installation. Incorrect fastening or uneven supports can affect the structure of the deck. Decks connect directly to the home structure. Repairs near ledger boards or flashing can allow water intrusion if they are not installed correctly. Damage on the surface of a deck may hide problems underneath. Soft decking can suggest moisture in the joists below. Replacing boards without inspecting the framing may leave structural issues in place. Deck repair completed by a professional usually begins with a structural review and proper hardware installation. Following code requirements helps address structural concerns and support the long term condition of the deck.

  • Deck contractors may use different staffing and scheduling approaches. Some work independently while others rotate crews across projects or focus on new construction. These differences can affect how deck repair projects are completed. Mr. Handyman delivers deck repair, deck restoration, deck installation, and deck replacement through a locally owned, licensed and insured operation. Homeowners connect with a team of service professionals who support multiple projects throughout the home. Clear scheduling and communication guide each visit. A local Mr. Handyman team serves homeowners across Lincoln University. Service professionals arrive in uniform and branded vehicles and follow an established service process. Work is organized through a structured scheduling system. Defined procedures guide how deck repair services are planned and completed for each home. Every project is backed by the Done Right Promise®. Defined service standards, professional accountability, and responsive customer support provide an added layer of confidence. Homeowners receive support from a recognized national brand while working with a local team focused on quality deck repair results.

  • Sun exposure and moisture slowly degrade deck sealants. Many wood decks require refinishing every two to three years to maintain protection. When the sealant breaks down, boards become more vulnerable to cracking and water damage. Annual inspections help identify small problems before they spread. Loose hardware, minor cracking, or early soft spots can often be corrected through focused deck repair. Weather exposure plays a major role in deck maintenance timing. Extreme weather can shorten the lifespan of protective coatings. Planning routine maintenance with a local deck builder in Lincoln University can help homeowners manage refinishing and repair before major deterioration develops.
