Rating: 5 out of 5 stars★ ★ ★ ★ ★☆ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆Great experience! Rodney was very friendly and knowledgeable. Rodney turned our drywall mess into a perfect flush match with the rest of the ceiling, trimmed our skylight seal, replaced the flange on our broken toilet, fixed our sink, and gave us advice on how to fix certain things ourselves. Incredibly personable and hard working. You've got a solid employee. When we need stuff fixed we are calling Mr. Handyman. Did I mention best pricing after the numerous estimates we got? Incredibly fair price. Thank you.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars★ ★ ★ ★ ★☆ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆We needed someone to install our doors. This meant they would make all the necessary measurements on the initial visit to make the cut outs and hang them on 'THE EXISTING DOOR FRAME.' Apparently using the existing door frame is a problem for some companies – they prefer to yank out the existing door frame and installing a NEW door frame and door. 1 – be sure they know exactly where you live – this ensures they know if you are on the ground floor that they have easy access to their tools because if you live high up like we do, they would have to lug all of their equipment up the freight elevator to your place. —- We live on a high floor of a tall building. 2 – BE ABSOLUTELY sure whoever comes to your place that they get all the details; a) of the door to hang AND b) the existing door frame measurements. This is critical because it is necessary for the door to swing (or not swing but stay where you left it, so it does not drift because of it being off center), close and shut properly (the insert in the door jamb has to line up properly with the door lock mechanism). 3 – We had to ask them to send another carpenter to do one of the doors over and better (the door did not hang properly). So, overall we are okay with their service but in future we would ask for a more experienced person to show up and not someone who is not quite so experienced in hanging doors. I just do not quite understand why it such an undertaking to find a company to hang doors on existing door frames. All they have to do is make the measurements and cut to those measurements…

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars★ ★ ★ ★ ★☆ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆Shawn showed up on time and gave me an estimate of how long it would take. It took longer than estimated but largely because of unknow pre-existing conditions that had to be fixed (i.e., the siding was not actually attached to the chimney by anything other than the trim). They work M-F, but he came on a Saturday because he was going to be leaving on vacation and wanted to get everything finished. Fortunately, I could pay with a credit card, and then I didn't have to be there for the days it took–I just gave him a key (no problems there). The first two days it looked like nothing had been done (except the shutters were gone) because he spent the first day taking measurements and then constructed all the elements in PVC in the shop (and painted the shutters there, too). But then everything came together, and it looks great. He really took a lot of care and takes obvious pride in his work. The painting was done by other members of the Mr. Handyman staff (since he had left for vacation). One thing to note is that you should mention if it will take a really tall ladder to reach certain areas (like the top of a chimney for painting) because not all of them have tall enough ladders on their truck–the painting had to be done over two days because of this. I'm very satisfied and want him to come back and do some other trim and elements!

-
Yes. Carpentry repair services include addressing damage to trim, baseboards, and crown molding to help maintain both appearance and stability. Some carpentry repair projects focus on reattaching loose molding, while others require replacing small sections to restore proper alignment. Depending on how much material is affected, carpentry repair may involve strengthening what’s there or swapping out a section so the trim or molding sits properly and looks consistent. If your home in Inwood needs carpentry attention, from damaged baseboards to crown molding, we’re here to evaluate the space and provide straightforward guidance.
-
Yes, whether you need carpentry repair or new trim installation, our carpentry services cover both. Services can include fixing damaged molding, correcting alignment issues, or installing new trim and crown molding for a more finished appearance. The right approach depends on the condition of the existing materials and the goals of the project, so we evaluate layout, fit, and finish details before recommending repair or new installation to ensure a clean, consistent result. From targeted carpentry repair to full trim installation projects, homeowners in Inwood, Maryland can reach out for a professional assessment.
-
Crown molding installation typically starts with a quick evaluation of the room and preparation of the workspace. Your trusted handyman measures the walls and ceiling lines, evaluates corners and angles, and determines the best layout for the molding. This preparation helps ensure trim pieces align properly and create a consistent, professional appearance once installed. Next, the crown molding installation process involves precise measuring, cutting, and fitting of each molding piece. A skilled carpenter uses specialized tools to create accurate angle cuts so the molding fits tightly at corners and joints. Each section is secured carefully to the wall and ceiling framing, ensuring the molding sits evenly and remains stable over time. During installation, the service professional may also perform minor carpentry repair if necessary. For example, uneven surfaces, small gaps, or existing trim issues may need adjustment before the molding is installed. These small corrections help ensure the finished result looks seamless and blends naturally with the surrounding trim installation. After installation, the final steps typically include filling nail holes, smoothing joints, and checking alignment. These finishing touches prepare the molding for painting or finishing. Professional carpentry services prioritize careful installation so crown molding improves the room’s overall appearance.
-
The time required for trim installation depends on factors such as room dimensions, layout, and trim detail. Projects limited to one room often move differently than whole-home trim upgrades or rooms with complex layouts. Architectural features, corner angles, and transitions between rooms may require adjustments during the installation process. If trim installation is part of your next home improvement project in Inwood, we can review your space and help you understand the process, timeline, and cost.

When hiring a local carpenter, it’s important to find someone with experience in the specific project you have in mind. Carpentry professionals often specialize in areas such as carpentry repair, trim installation, or crown molding installation. Choosing a carpenter familiar with the work you need helps deliver cleaner, more durable results. It’s also helpful to review the full range of carpentry services offered. A capable carpenter handyman should be comfortable performing both installation and repair tasks throughout the home. This allows multiple projects to be completed efficiently. Professional communication is also essential. A reliable carpenter should outline the scope of work, provide a clear estimate, and discuss timelines before starting the job. Reputable carpentry services keep clients informed throughout the project. Finally, look for a carpenter who focuses on quality work and attention to detail. Quality carpentry requires precise measurements, careful cutting, and proper installation techniques. Working with an experienced local carpenter helps ensure your trim, molding, and other wood features are installed correctly and enhance the overall appearance and durability of your home.
