When you have an issue with your house that needs to be fixed, you need to know you can count on the repairs. Mr. Handyman (north) came to our house and in just a few days fixed our issue with the basement wall. Prompt. Courteous Our tech (Charlie) asked us what we wanted every step of the way. He confirmed choices and was incredibly polite. Awesome A+ customer service. The quality of the work was exceptional. We love Mr. Handyman!

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars

Shawn showed up on time and gave me an estimate of how long it would take. It took longer than estimated but largely because of unknow pre-existing conditions that had to be fixed (i.e., the siding was not actually attached to the chimney by anything other than the trim). They work M-F, but he came on a Saturday because he was going to be leaving on vacation and wanted to get everything finished. Fortunately, I could pay with a credit card, and then I didn't have to be there for the days it took–I just gave him a key (no problems there). The first two days it looked like nothing had been done (except the shutters were gone) because he spent the first day taking measurements and then constructed all the elements in PVC in the shop (and painted the shutters there, too). But then everything came together, and it looks great. He really took a lot of care and takes obvious pride in his work. The painting was done by other members of the Mr. Handyman staff (since he had left for vacation). One thing to note is that you should mention if it will take a really tall ladder to reach certain areas (like the top of a chimney for painting) because not all of them have tall enough ladders on their truck–the painting had to be done over two days because of this. I'm very satisfied and want him to come back and do some other trim and elements!

Hector with Mr. Handyman did an outstanding job installing granite countertops and a glass tile backsplash to our kitchen. He is meticulous, hard working, and cheerfully kept us informed with each step. We have used Mr. Handyman previously and highly recommend this company.

Overall Juan was very knowledgeable & very pleasant. He went out of his way to make sure the housing to the light fixture was secured to the ceiling.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars

Had 2 small leaks in our kitchen ceiling. The leaks were directly under our master bath, and would be halfway between the master bathroom's toilet and shower stall. Also, there is a fire sprinkler about 3-6" inches from the leak. Michael diagnosed part of the cause of the problem, which was a leaky shower valve. He replaced the valve in the shower, and when it was discovered that there was a second unrelated leak that happened to be in the same area, he fixed that and replaced a pipe. Very professional throughout.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars

I sent in a request via e-mail to be contacted and was immediately responded to within 4 hours. Liz worked with my schedule and had a technician come out. Michael, the technician, was very friendly and courteous. I had actually only expected to be given an estimate, but Michael said that he was available if we wanted him to start, so we agreed. Like many of you, I had a pretty good list of things I needed done. Fix a recessed light that hadn't worked for years, install a microwave, upgrade plugs. But the real challenge was to install a cell phone repeater on our house. Where we live we barely receive one or two bars on any given day. The challenge was to install it on the roof, weave it threw the attic, and then install the receiver in an out of the way location in the kitchen. Michael did all of these projects beautifully (how he installed the microwave without any help is amazing), but his ingenuity in how he approached and successfully installed the cell phone repeater was a real plus. There was a real possibility that we would have had multiples holes and exposed wires throughout the house, but Michael really thought it out well and it is barely noticeable, including the receiver that is attached to the ceiling (close to a wall) in my kitch. I am very happy with their service and will definitely be calling on them again.

Frequently Asked Questions About Door Repair and Installation in Inwood, MD

For 30 years, Mr. Handyman professionals have been helping homeowners and businesses repair, maintain, and enhance their spaces. We are a one-stop solution for everything on your to-do list. This includes answering your questions about home repairs, maintenance, and improvements. Here are answers to some of your most frequently asked questions about door repair and installation services in Inwood, Maryland.

  • A sticking or rubbing door is typically caused by alignment issues, loose hinges, humidity-related expansion, or normal structural settling over time. When a door begins to sit unevenly in the frame, it may stick, fail to latch properly, or show gaps along the edges. These are common indicators that door repair may be required. Resolving the problem properly means identifying whether simple hardware tightening will solve it or whether structural adjustments are needed. Addressing the issue early helps prevent additional wear on the door and frame. For homeowners in Inwood, Mr. Handyman provides reliable door repair designed to restore proper fit and function.

  • In most cases, a damaged door frame or jamb does not require full replacement if the structural damage is confined to small or isolated areas. If the door frame remains stable, professional door repair can reinforce damaged sections, restore proper alignment, and secure hardware without full replacement. When rot, warping, or structural weakness extends beyond isolated areas, replacing sections of the frame or installing a new front door may be necessary for long-term stability. Early attention reduces the risk of moisture intrusion and continued wear. Mr. Handyman provides dependable door repair and front door replacement services for homeowners in Inwood.

  • When you feel air coming through an exterior door, the cause is usually aging weatherstripping, small perimeter gaps, subtle misalignment, or compromised door insulation. As seals wear down, the door may no longer sit snugly within the frame. That loss of contact can allow air leakage that affects comfort and energy efficiency. Addressing airflow usually begins with replacing compressed weatherstripping and ensuring the door sits correctly within the frame. When sealing performance cannot be restored, installation of a new unit may be the best path forward. When your door seals properly, your home stays more comfortable and protected. In Inwood, trusted door repair and installation services help restore that reliable performance.

  • When the frame and door are still secure, smaller issues such as hardware wear or surface damage often call for repair instead of replacement. If the door remains structurally stable but shows surface wear or hardware loosening, targeted repair can resolve the issue without replacement. Replacement becomes more appropriate when the door is severely warped, extensively rotted, structurally compromised, or no longer fits securely within the frame. In those situations, professional door installation may offer better long-term stability and performance. Making the right repair-or-replace decision protects your home’s structure and supports long-term durability. For homeowners in Inwood, Maryland, professional door repair and door installation services provide a practical path forward.

  • Common signs that you may need front door replacement include visible warping, cracks, soft wood, or damage that affects how the door opens and closes. These issues can impact both security and energy efficiency over time. If the door sticks, won’t latch easily, or shows uneven gaps around the frame, alignment issues may be present. Sometimes door repair can restore function, but severe wear may require replacement. Hardware that feels loose or worn may also affect the door’s performance. While simple upgrades like replace doorknob hardware can help, ongoing issues may indicate replacement is the better option. Mr. Handyman offers reliable door services, including door repair and front door replacement, to help keep entryways secure and functional.
