Kevin, our contractor, did an excellent job in repairing our hardwood steps that had become unsafe to walk on.

About 3 years ago I had a bad experience with this company. I had a leak in my home and could not figure out the cause. Every time it rained my basement would flood and a musty smell lingered throughout my house. I tried different handyman companies in the area, but all were a disappointment. They were not dependable, didn't get the job done right or left an incredible mess. During this time, a contractor from Mr. Handyman came by. He simply looked at the exterior of my house, pointed to an area below the patio door as a possible vulnerable spot, but told me he could not fix it. He charged me $50 and left. I was fuming. For the next couple of years I continued my search for a good handyman, but to no avail. Last month I was determined to resolve this issue. I searched again for a service. But choices were limited. I decided to give Mr Handyman a shot. I called the company and spoke with the co-owner, Jo McCabe. I told her about my past experience with company a few years ago. She told me that she and her brother bought the company in Sep 08 and were determined to launch a successful business in Prince William County. Talking with Jo gave me a sense of ease. She was enthusiastic, professional and really listened to my concerns. After explaining the company policy and the 2-hour minimum ($98/hr), I decided to schedule an appointment. On the day of the initial estimate I was feeling anxious. Although I had a good feeling talking with Jo, I couldn't help but have flashbacks of the past experiences. I wanted a morning appointment, but I did not want to sit home and wait 4-5 hours for a contractor to show up. Jo explained that if you made a morning appointment, the contractor WILL be there at 8am. Well, on that day at 8am on the dot, the Mr. Handyman van pulled up to my house. I greeted the contractor at the door. He was courteous and respectful. But I was not sold just yet. I showed him the problem area. He inspected the interior and the exterior of the home, and discovered the problem in about 30 seconds. I was amazed. He took some measurements and explained exactly what should be done to correct this issue once and for all. Needless to say I called the company and booked an appointment for the work. On the day of the service call I was hopeful. Again, the contractor showed up at 8am on the dot. He got to work right away on the exterior. I wanted to see how things were progressing, so he showed me exactly what he was doing. The exterior repairs were done in about 2 1/2 hours. Then he began work on the interior. He had to remove some drywall and the damaged wood. Then he left to get supplies and returned in about 30-40 minutes. It was a very laborious effort, but he worked for hours and stayed until the job was done. He was a true professional in every respect. He made final touch ups and then cleaned up the area. Now the entire space looks pristine. It was money well spent. The other day we finally got some rain. Lo and behold, no leak and no musty smell! I definitely plan to work with this company again.

The technicians were very knowledgable, courteous, and professional. They arrived on time and completed the job quickly. Finally, they treated my home as they would have treated their own. Options were clearly identified with recommendations on what NEEDED to be done, what work SHOULD be done, and what work COULD be done. I look forward to working with them again soon on other projects.

Knowledgeable and skilled. <br /> <br /> The total cost was twice or nearly twice the other estimate. <br /> <br /> If I needed a plumber or an electrician I might turn to them rather for some simple things rather than, since they're licensed. So yes if I had work I would get another estimate from them even though the price on this job was high.
